Guy Martin just set a new world record for the fastest motorbike run on a wall of death. Great telly!

Great telly, less great as content for a video-less forum post

A man of the people for the people .!
The BBC made a big mistake in not taking him on for Top Gear .
He's got guts and superhuman ambitions .
A thoroughly nice bloke too .

Not very popular in the TT paddock or so I'm led to believe.. I wasn't aware of that Peter ....but thanks for the info . tell us more ...what's the gripe ? He has a bit of a bitter rivalry with fellow Lincolnshire TT rider Gary Johnson. Johnson was sacked by Triumph after winning at the TT in 2014, to be replaced by Guy Martin who has never won there. The phenomenal TT ace Michael Dunlop was dropped by BMW after winning on their bikes for guess who? It seems that Martins media profile wins him the best rides at the expense of actual proven TT winners. His hogging of the limelight grates with the paddock and fans alike. Legends like John McGuinness and Ian Hutchinson get ignored, while the media scramble for Martin. It probably is a combination of envy, jealousy, genuine grievance, his lack of self awareness when taking over dropped racers rides, the use of his profile to gain sponsorship despite their being better road racers out there. One thing is for sure, he's been one of the catalysts for a revived Isle of Man TT for sure.

I suppose when you are aware of the facts then one can understand the animosity . Having said all that ...I think I am still very biased ....he is a likeable chap .

I think a good comparison would be Barry Sheene in the 1970s, massively famous, handsome and charismatic, loved by the General public. However, not well liked by his team mates and rivals, and the biking community were certainly split about him back in the day.

Indeed ...putting it that way , I can fully appreciate the point you are making . Thanks Peter .

The guy is crazy, he has to be respected for his courage to continue to do these things after his accident.
Fair play!

He is crazy ....Did anyone see the massive scar running down the whole of his back .? It was as a result of the massive crash he had where he broke several vertebra and other bones in his chest and back .
I'm not sure how long he has left on this planet .
