Few games to go yet but who are the front runners. Jack...Loads of solid perfomances, one or two errors... Arnie...When he is good he is exceptional, but when bad he is a shocker, and Nzonzi won last yr then fucked off. Geoff...Had a great season. Ryan..Normally yes, but blighted by injuries. Pieters...Not everyones cup of tea, but is mr consistant. Wolly...Same as Pieters. Affellay...Gotta be a contender. Bojan, Muniesa Joselu & Shaq...Not really had the long run of games to judge, but Joselu's time will come, hopefully next year. Diouf...Sorry...Just missed too many sitters. SJW...He'd get my vote if we'd seen more of him. Glen...Did a good job deputising as captain when Ryan was out...
So many of our players have had a good season, hard to pick a winner...But if I had to, just for commitment and effort....GLEN...( Whelan not Johnson)

Jack or Afellay Arnie 3rd Wolly and Whelan pushing Arnie all the way.
If Johnson hadn't got injured he'd be well up there.

I said Arnie would be player of the season during pre season and im not going to change my mind now. Although, some of our fans have a disliking to him for some reason so can't see him winning it.

Arnie.
I think his all round game this season has been superb. More tackles and interceptions than any other attacking player, second highest with assists, key passes and chances created , Our highest goal scorer, and if you look back he could of scored 16/17 with the 2/3 he's had wrongly disallowed and ones he's missed.
You also have to look at the points he won for us.

Jack closely followed by Afellay.
Wollscheid a creditable third.

I'm torn between Jack and Ibby - hopefully I will be able to make up my mind by the end of the season.
Honourable mention to Whelan who has really stepped up to the plate in Ryan's absence.
If he had joined in August I suspect Imbula might have won it. It is nice to see someone looking so good on the pitch where the stats back up the impression you get when you watch him. I dread to think how good he will be once he's bulked up and bedded into this league. We'll be lucky to hang on to him beyond summer 2017.

Has to be Arnie.
10 goals from the wing is an outstanding effort.

Left of field, but I think Shawcross should be in with a shout. He's been the difference between 3-0 defeats and title winning form when he's played, he has had a big impact on our current league position.
For consistent quality over the season, I think I'd give it to Butland. He's saved us a lot of points.

Can't separate Butland from Whelan, so either.

Arnie's contribution in terms of goals and assists from the wing has been outstanding.
Butland has been very consistent and solid and is in with a good chance.
Affelay has been so consistent and is right up there in terms of influence.
I'd go with Arnie if I had to choose now.

Arnie Affellay Jack Wolly
Close between these 4 for me, and in that order at the moment. That could change in the next 7 games.

Dionatan Teixeira.
Every game he's played in this season we've won.
True hero.

If anybody can seriously put a shortlist up and not include Arnie then there's something wrong mentally. Difficult to choose between the top two because of what they have added this season at different ends but I'm going for Butland just because he's replaced Begovic so admirably.
1. Butland 2. Arnautovic 3. Wollscheid 4. Afellay 5. Whelan
If Shawcross hadn't missed such a chunk he'd be comfortably in the mix.

Arnie Jack Affellay Whelan
That's my top 4. Arnie could be going off the boil a bit though, in which case Jack will overtake him. Some match winning saves this season.

Arnie - added goals to his fantastic all round game, which is the icing on the cake. Jack - stepped into Bego's boots and stepped up. Affellay - composure, skill and a calming influence, a key player.

Arnie, Jack, Affelay/Johnson.
Let's not forget Glenn Johnson had hardly put a foot wrong up until the injury.
