Shaqiri's hat-trick in the World Cup may have given the mistaken impression that he's a prolific goal scorer. At the club level he's scored 41 goals in 201 games, including 3 in 23 for a strike rate of 0.201. His record is better in Internationals 17 in 51. That might be te reason he was let go.
