Haven't seen him in a long while , thought he was long gone Yes, I'm the same, I presumed he had left us some years back. He was a giant of the broadcasting. If, like me, you are old enough to remember the pre-Michelmore days, he and others like him dragged the job of reporters and presenters in broadcasting into the modern world. In my mind, he's still inextricably linked with the Aberfan disaster. I can't think of it without recalling the compassion in his voice as he reported it. Much the same goes for the death of Kennedy. They say all of us who were alive then can remember where we were when we heard the news. That's true, but I can also remember it was Cliff who told us the news and updated my family clustered around our TV with the terrible news from Dallas. R.I.P. Cliff.

Are you confusing him with Robert Robinson, or did Cliff host the show, as well?

Yes indeed but despite all his many and varied achievements probably still best known for being a great proponent of the comb-over look

Must admit, I thought he had gone a long time ago. R.I.P. 96 is a very good age. Good to read the article at the top of this post.

I wouldn’t worry too much about thinking he was already dead, Kay Burley, leading journalist and commentator thought he was Malcom Muggeridge who died 26 years ago and would have been about 120

They showed an interview with a 17 year old David Bowie just a few weeks back. This was part of the Bowie is exhibition. It's bloody brilliant! Bowie's first TV appearance. It was all publicity and shows that Dave was fiercely ambitious.
