How do you work that out? Average gate about 4000 average away following less than a thousand. As I said in previous posts they are responsible for taking away a substantial amount of money from the city council coffers at a time when drastic cuts were being made in budgets such as social care policing etc. Do well my arse and I'm aware of the city's proud heritage having lived here most of my life. I have relations who went both Stoke and Vale but when you asked why it was because to follow Stoke away was beyond a lot of working class folks pockets other than for big games so to have a regular dose of football they went the Vale home games as it was cheaper to do so. As I said we are all entitled to our views on the Vale mines biased and always will be. Most of them detest us just like I detest them.

Like to see them do well as it brings more people into the area which generates more money been spent so good all round Have you ever spoken to a dyed in the wool soapdodger, they hate us, they never have a good word for Stoke in any way shape or form, they would rather Stoke loose any day than the Vale win, they are impossible to speak too. I like some on here used to go the Vale occasionally just to get a game, this all changed with the Rudge era when they became insufferable. So I understand what you are saying but I have had that sentiment firmly knocked out of me.

Vale hate us, I hate Vale. Vales fans celebrated like they each won the lottery when they sent us down with Man City and every loss we suffered from then onwards. Years and years of vile from them until we again overtook them. If we were on the brink of administration they would be jumping for joy.

Vale didn't send us down? and when you say "years and years" of them being above us, it was only about 5 seasons until proper order was restored but we were that poor in the late 90's that both Vale and Crewe were finishing above us.

Leave the Vale alone.
How anyone can belittle the club that gave the world iconic players such as Russell Bromage and Tommy Cheadle just smacks of jealousy.

Most Stoke fans that followed Stoke in the 90's won't have a soft spot for them.
Some of you are just argumentative.

One of the best mentals of the 92/93 promotion season was when West Brom battered the scum 3-0 in the play-off final, I was bouncing round my bedroom like a loon. As for the other point, I'll let you know whenever the Vile have a player called up for England.

In true Faulty Towers fashion I used to live in a street and at the end there was a guy who named his house VALE VIEW. Late one night I popped over and re-arranged the letters to read VILE WAVE. He didn't notice it for about 3 weeks much to my amusement. To prevent any further abuse he had a new sign with the letters painted in. Bastard!

I just can't find it in me to hate Vale. They're just like none relevant. They literally mean nothing to me.
We have no chance of playing them in a competitive game, they never get far enough in the cups. I would love to see a meaningful game between the two sides, but I just cant see it happening.

We are all entitled to our views however misguided some may be on the Fail. However next time someone mentions the city's heritage and that bunch of soap dodging deluded clowns from the north of our wonderful city being part of it remember all the years they've been a drain on the city's resources. Bail outs from the council, arguing over police bills etc etc etc. all money which could have been used to better effect than helping keep a small and irrelevant non-entity going. Remember that next time you feel yourself going soft towards them. The city's heritage goes back long before the early 90's, many people used to go and watch both clubs on alternate weekends, my granddad used to tell me about watching them when they played in Hanley. I did that for quite a while (and Crewe on a Friday night)

And before any grammar pedants tell me that should be 'fewer', I think you'll find that fewer applies to discrete and countable nouns like 'people', and not loose unit quantities of a noun like 'slime'.
