Just posted by the club on facebook... There's much to like about this, Fuller's jinking at the byeline, the delicate lay-off, the ball thumping resoundingly into the far corner - but I love watching crowd reactions and the bit I keep going back for is the two Spurs lads just to the left of the goal immediately turning away disgustedly and heading straight for the exit as the ball hits the net. It's all in the detail www.facebook.com/stokecity/videos/10154641510459638/

Cracking shot from Whelan..... As for Fuller, what a huge player he was for us, amazing strength and skill on the ball....Arnie's got a lot of Fuller's qualities in that respect, that's what I like so much about Arnie!!!

Fuller was the last manager's best signing for me. Wonderful footballer and criminally underrated by other supporters.
Whelan a different type of player obviously, but equally good value for money.
I really worry about replacing him and the other british lads when their time comes.

Slightly bizarre but I was reminiscing about this goal earlier on today. For me, this win at Spurs was the moment being a Premiership club finally sank in. The season before was amazing but it was still such a novelty to be dining at the head table, especially for those like me who didn't even exist the last time we'd been a top-flight club. I can remember just staring at the scoreline on the BBC, hypnotised by bliss.
Tottenham Hotspur 0 - 1 Stoke City

That away end was absolute carnage when it went in and only 3 mins to go I was in the Upper Tier, it was total BEDLAM Yup, I flew in just in time for that match (got a taxi straight to the ground and arrived 10 mins before kick-off) - a wonderful afternoon to be a Stokie and a serious mental when that hit the net. In typical Stoke fashion, after delaying my flight back and heading down from London to Portsmouth on the rattler in midweek, I watched us spontaneously combust in a gut wrenchingly awful 4-0 defeat at Pompey in the League Cup. To show how bad we were, Diego Arismendi was our MoM that night!!!

In our history more like I was no fan of Pulis but his business regarding Whelan Shawcross and Fuller will go down as 3 of the best signings in our history Indeed Shawcross and Fuller are up there with Greenhoff and Hudson IMO

Brilliant scenes indeed mate and one my Mrs still talks about after one of our fans smacked her straight across the head in his celebrations(accidentally) :-) shouldn't laugh.Great day that was and Simmo had a blinder but how the hell Probert failed to give them a pen in the last minute was beyond me as well. As for Whelan he has to be up there as the best value for money signing in our clubs history imo

The commentary edited out of that clip from the original Match of the Day is "...and what was Palacios doing there?"
I always remember that because when we signed Palacios it was the first thing that popped into my head...him standing around not doing owt.
Little did i realise at the time how that much phrase would go on to perfectly sum up his entire Stoke City stay.

When the goal went in I got knocked over backwards and was unable to get up, all I could see were arms and legs flying above my head! The bruises lasted for about two weeks!

Simonsen saved absolutely fucking everything that day as well, you could have hit three separate footballs at him at the same time and he'd have stopped all of them.
Classic smash and grab.

I'm 99% sure this was the game where they played the reply of the goal on the big screen on repeat and every time they did there was a mini mental?

This is the greatest goal of all time.
The feeling I had when the ball hit the back of the net was like nothing I've ever experienced in my life.
Truly inspiring. It brings a tear to my eye.
I watch this goal every day first thing in the morning, and the last thing before I fall asleep.

I was in the Upper Tier, it was total BEDLAM Me to mate,i was hugging a randomer from Portsmouth who i had never met before. Our first victory there since 1983? More like 1975! I was at the last win there as a kid in the seats above the old shelf. All the Spurs fans were going on about how brilliant Stoke were and how they were nailed on Division 1 champions. As for that Whelan goal win; it was a week after the death of my father, himself a Spurs fan, and it all got to much. Those last minutes went on forever, and when the whistle finally went I openly wept

What a fucking god. Based on username alone I'm going to assume you'd be a good source for some of his top performances. Some I've already seen: -his goal against Villa where he flicks the ball to himself on the edge of the box and takes it straight in. Gorgeous. -headed goal from the throw against Arse -Unsure who we were playing but when he picks the ball up from our box after penalty complaints from the other team and takes it coast to coast, beating two defenders and the keeper at the other end. I am always willing to hear old tales!
