Players who have come to the end of their 'shelf life ' in the Premiership and should be replaced if we are to move on ...
Obviously , we need to prune in order for new growth to appear . Players like Crouch , Odemwingie , and Walters ....
Secondly , players that we could improve on ....Diouf , Cameron ...perhaps ?
Personally ....I think Walters and Crouchy need to go . I think both are beginning to show their age and we would be best served in freeing up their wages .
I'd keep Diouf , but only for the purpose of cover . I'd also keep Cameron too . Joselu is another one I'd keep .
We we desperately need to improve our goals tally and that has to be our prime objective . We can't afford to slip backwards .
Time to get the secateurs out ..

Players who i think may be the most likely to be going...
Sidwell - wants to play football Odemwingie - not recovered the same Marc Wilson - I think he may be too far down the pecking order now especially with Cameron and Muniesa ahead of him. Teixiera - if Wilson doesn't go I think it'll be curtains for this guy. Not quality enough even though he's only 23. Stephen Ireland - not enough games and with Affelay coming on, his chances will be further limited.
Further possibilities could be: Crouch - wants to play football, but is Abby happy in the Cheshire area so may sway him to stay and finish his career here Shay Given - finish the same as Sorenson?? Still a factor in developing Butland and Haugaard / Bachmann Walters. - long shot.... But he may get itchy feet...

If last season is anything to go by, they'll try to make the new signings first and then let go of those surplus to requirements. Doing it in reverse could result in last minute panic buying ending up being worse off. The exceptions were Begovic and N'zonzi who had no interest in staying

As the way things stand, I think it's very likely arnautovic will be sold. Obviously I don't want it to happen, but I'm half expecting it to happen now.

I'd say the odds are about even. He has a very high maintenance personality, which not every manager is willing or has the patience to manage. If he's smart he'll realize that Hughes and his staff appear to have invested a lot of time and effort in him and he has found somewhere he can do well. His recent remarks suggest that's the case. He is going to have a lot of people flattering him and trying to convince him he can do better elsewhere. An important factor in whether he stays or goes is the influence of his peers such as Shaqiri, Bojan and Affelay who seem to have formed a bond - hopefully they can convince him to recognize when he's well off.

One of, if not both, Ireland and Adam, should leave

Though he and Glen might not be starting they're the heartbeat of the squad

Did we ever get rid of Michael Tonge? I think he's locked in a cupboard somewhere at the training ground with Andrew Davies, Amdy Faye, Jani Viander and Ole Albrigtsen.

Sidwell & Odemwingie are gone. Expect Crouch, Ireland/Adam, Wilson/Tex to go as welll. Yes, that would free up 5 wage slots. Could help pay for a goalscorer, winger and a cb.

Sidwell & Odemwingie are gone. Expect Crouch, Ireland/Adam, Wilson/Tex to go as welll. Agreed - Sidders and Wingy will not return. Lockers already emptied. For me, Crouch, Adam, Wilson, Tex and (if we can get a younger back-up to Johnson) Bardsley can go. I still think Ireland is the only proper back-up to Bojan as a number 10 and is worth keeping for the bench. If we spend big on a striker, and Diouf fancies a return to Germany, he may get his wish in the summer as well. Given will surely not be handed another deal, with Haugaard looking promising and a queue of youngsters forming behind him. Plucked from thin air, my squad for 2016-17: Butland Haugaard Bachmann Johnson DeAndre Yedlin Shawcross Micah RichardsCameron Wollscheid Muniesa Pieters Whelan Yann M'VilaImbula Afellay Ireland Arnautovic Shaqiri Bojan Georginio WijnaldumAndros TownsendWalters Joselu Michy BatshuayiRichards and Townsend, or similar, would be crucial to ensure we keep our homegrown contingent at the right number.

At the risk of sounding like I'm playing Football Manager if we could I'd definitely offload Wilson, Ireland, Adam,Crouch, Bardsley, Teixera, ( Assume Odemwingie and Sidwell are gone) but I'm also far less enamoured than some people on here with Walters, Muniesa and even Cameron and Wollschied and the jury is still out on Joselu. Meanwhile Bojan and Diouf have been underwhelming for a good while - so that leaves Butland, Pieters, Shawcross, Whelan, Imbula , Arnie, Johnson, Affelay and Shaq - feels like we are some distance short of having a top 8 squad.

A lot of the ones who might be considered fringe-y are the Home-Grown quota, which could present some problems?
Odemwingie (2016) Sidwell (2016) -------------------- Given (2017) Johnson (2017) Adam (2017) Arnautovic (2017) Bardsley (2017) Ireland (2017) Teixeira (2017) Afellay (2017) Whelan (2017) Crouch (2017) -------------------- Wilson (2018) Haugaard (2018) Cameron (2018) Walters (2018) Shawcross (2018) Diouf (2018) Wollscheid (2018) -------------------- Butland (2019) Muniesa (2019) Joselu (2019) --------------------- Pieters (2020) Shaqiri (2020) Bojan (2020) Shenton (2020) ---------------------- Imbula (2021)

Given, Teixeira, Sidwell, Ireland, Crouch & Odemwingie will go, and probably Shenton (loan), Diouf & Arnie. I've got a feeling Bardsley, Wilson, Adam & Walters will all stay.
