I know it was a long shot but I honestly think it died today 8 games to go and I am starting to slip sadly and inexorably in to 'roll on August' mode

So many tears I've cried.
So much pain inside.

That's they way I'm starting to think Gods, sadly. I was optimistic before today's game, I don't think it'll happen now.

I think with the League cup run that we had we showed that at the moment we don't have the squad to cope with Europe or midweek games. If we can get some good signings in pre season I'd be more confident to make a real push for it next season.
The most important thing this season was that we didn't get into trouble because of the huge SKY money next season and we've done it with ease.
With 2-3 signings in for the start of season and hopefully Ryan and Bojan with a clear bill of health I can see us going places.

Today was pretty much make or break.
We broke.
Sad but true.

It was always a tall order, and today by no means makes it out of the question. It's still a possibility.

Can we still mathematically finish in the top four? Yes? Europe is still on, then.

No, but we need 6 points from the next two games to keep it alive.

Do people really believe we were/are ever going to qualify for Europe playing like we have done at home this season?

We're not playing well enough or well consistently enough to warrant it. Not saying we shouldn't aim or dream but you have to step back and analyse it for what it is.

It's gone. Our poor home form has buggered a potentially great season.

I really thought we were going to win this and finish in the top six. It is extremely disappointing considering the players we have. It looks like we need another couple of good defenders in the summer and a player of top class up front such as Yarmo to get much further.

Never thought we'd be on for it this season at any point really, let's just try and beat our record points tally and position in the table. If we can hold onto what we have and improve in a few positions in the summer there's no doubt we'll be pushing for 5th.

Was never going to happen, not a chance, we are far to inconsistent and don't score enough goals. Hopefully we can win a few more games and keep the season alive if not we will probably finish 9th or 10th.

I don't want us in that joke league. Our home form is sketchy enough as it is without the distraction of some half arsed cup.

I don't want us in that joke league. Our home form is sketchy enough as it is without the distraction of some half arsed cup. Remember the 4th of May 2003? We beat Reading and it was a bloody wonderful day, we stayed up and were still in The Championship (First Division as was) 13 years later and we're turning our noses up at European Football are we?

Only thing in our favour is that the other teams around us have to win all of-or most- of their games too. Right now I'm just comforting myself with the knowledge that we are at least safe, and in the Prem for another season.

We'll win a couple, we'll lose a couple and guess what? We might even draw a couple. So will that be enough? Probably not.

If we won today and lost next week, would you all be saying the dream is over? I don't think so.
A couple of wins in our next two games and we're back on track. We will need to beat Liverpool and West Ham though.
Going to be tough but it is doable. I'd take 9th again to be honest.

I'm really disappointed we lost this game. Europa league was my last resort this season. As I say disappointed. Staying up is always a good season for me. I am just frustrated because in some key games this season we have not shown up eg Liverpool at home in the cup, today, several other home games against lesser teams. We've passed up a chance of having a really special season. Next season Liverpool, chelsea and man u will all be stronger
