Afellay doesn't seem to have made the final cut, which seems odd.

It literally took me 5 minutes to figure out what was wrong with what I said... To be fair Holland have about the same chance of winning it as England do!

Afellay doesn't seem to have made the final cut, which seems odd. Bizarre that Pieters has made the cut and Ibby hasn't. If only one could be accommmodated then Ibby's form and fitness suggests it should have been him. Decisions like this might explain why the Dutch didn't qualify for the Euros?

Wijnaldum or Schneider though for AMC seems fair over Afellay.

Maybe - but as well as thinking Ibby is unlucky not to make the cut, I happen to think that the choice of Pieters was a bit odd. I like Pieters but I don't think he has been fully fit for months. A 2 week rest would have done him good and I doubt if he is currently going to add a great deal to the Dutch first choice 11.

Did I miss the memo about calling him 'Ibby'? When did we all start doing that?

Doesn't surprise me, he's been running on empty for weeks as stated above. A 2 week rest and I have no doubt he'll be back to his early season form....

Afellay shouldn't have been dropped. His form has been exceptional. He was class yet again on Saturday.

If it is good enough for the players and management it is good enough for me.

Afellay shouldn't have been dropped. His form has been exceptional. He was class yet again on Saturday. Agreed, crazy decision. If that is typical of the Dutch management at the moment then it might help to explain why they didn't qualify for the Euros. I hope he gets a run out against England. You'd imagine it would be sensible for the Dutch to give the English based players in their squad a game against players they play against week in, week out.

Again though if he's going to play as an attacking midfielder Wijnaldum and Schneider are better.

Oh agreed, but I'm not convinced Sneijder is quite as good as some people think he is. I feel like certain Stoke supporters like to simply dismiss the abilities of Stoke players.

Conversely, it might be more profitable to field players that the English know NOTHING about - ie more difficult to plan against the unknown?

Total bollocks, Sneijder is fucking unbelievable still and the fans of the Turkish league cannot believe he plays there.

He does what Fonzy did in an attacking sense with the defensive side and not half as well as Fonzy did it last year. Shouldn't that be Imbula's job?

I actually think Afellay's defensive side is his most improved part of his game this season. He puts in a shift now and isn't afraid to tackle. I know he was your hero..... but Steven has gone. Let it go.
