I must say I find it slightly bizarre the amount of Leicester supporters who placed not at all insignificant amounts on Leicester winning the title. You would always expect there to be a few people set to win life-changing money whenever there's a monumental sporting upset but the sheer volume of Leicester supporters is what surprises me.
Whilst it's clear now that the 5000/1 (it was either 5000/1 or 2000/1?) that bookies have been offering on the "weakest" teams to win modern top-flight titles has been an exploitable misstep by the bookies, I very much doubt the majority of Leicester backing punters made that bet with any consciousness of expected value. I still firmly believe that, should Leicester go on to win the title (and I've now got past my jealousy and prejudices and am willing them to do so for the good of football) the majority of those punters aren't geniuses that exploited a vulnerability in bookmaker trends, but are merely nutters who backed the planets to align. If you look at the arrogant expectations of their fans before last season then maybe it is a trait of Leicester supporters.
Anyway, what I actually want to know is, are there any stokies who bet decent sums on Stoke City to win the title? I'm not talking a cheeky £1, a lot of the Leicester fans in the news are guys who put £20+ on. I imagine more stokies bet on relegation that winning the title. I think biscuit put his house on relegation which would explain why he's nowhere to be seen of late.

Leicester winning the title is a bookies dream, even if they offered odds of 100,000-1. They will make multi-millions from all the failed bets on Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal etc.

Well I'm certainly having a pop next season now. Fuck it. The odds will be well down next year after this year's unpredictability. And we'd be less of an upset than Leicester this season if we were to win the league next season.

My Dad has had £10 on Stoke to win the league the last 3 seasons.
There are more than a few nutters out there ........and they don't just live in Leicester. There are more than a few compulsive gamblers out there too especially in those online gambling era...just click enter!
I think I read that there is about 30 Leicester fans who placed bets. But when you think of the way they finished the season last year???

I'd guess something like 300/1? 400-1 to win the league and 33-1 to win the league cup. Also got a handicap bet on at 47 points. I'll win 100 quid for every point over 47 or lose £100 for every point below. I thought that was a great bet.

There's been a few mentioned in the news with £20 - £50 bets nutters. Have there been "a few"? When that punter cashed in for £29,000 the other day, in the news articles a Ladbrokes spokesman was quoted as saying they'd taken 47 bets on Leicester to win the title at 5000-1, only 2 or 3 had been cashed in. Didn't say how much money that represented. He was only talking about Ladbrokes, no idea if they'd offered much bigger odds than anyone else.

There was a bookie on talksport. Not sure if it was ladbrokes or whoever, he was saying they had taken 82 bets on leicester to win the league. I might have that figure wrong but it was definitely more than a few. I'm having a tenner on stoke next season to finish in the top 4. I like dreaming, god knows i was doing it for long enough while we were in the wilderness so why the hell not.

Yes the bet is settled at the end of the season. It's a credit bet.If you've got a bad credit rating then obviously they won't let you open an account. They'll have your card number and bank account details.Think you get an initial £2k credit but if you want more than that you need to show proof of earnings.

Fair play to you then. I'd never risk that amount (currently down 1250 quid I assume). Saying that, you're far more likely to make a tidy sum now. I'm surprised the bookies didn't start higher at 50 points tbh.
