I sit in Q railing stand behind dugout, and this portly guy sitting nearby seemed to be communicating with Mark Bowen during the first half.Is he a new member of the coaching staff? Did anyone else notice him?

Did he look like a fat Bobby Davro?
Probably the lively and inventive David 'Dave' Kemp.
Explains a lot

Never understood why both managers & assistant sit at pitch side together, front row viewing is shit compared to higher up, distances can be judged better so a higher view point is better for watching team shape etc, hence the reason for the most part when you watch a match on t.v the view is from higher up and not at pitchside
If you want a better view higher ground is better everytime

I can think of quite a few examples of managers high up in the stands on a walkie talkie. There's pros and cons to being in the stands or being pitchside.

MB must have thought the same Mutts otherwise he wouldn't have responded, and why should you 'have to get behind a £100,000 a week player' for him to put more effort in ??
Did make me laugh though....the portly comment and your reply :-)

I was told a few years ago that the 'professionals' know more than any fans so we should sit and happy clap. Since May 2013 that's changed.... it's a real head scratcher.

It's a totally different game when watched from higher up. At pitch level it's very difficult to see what is happening for much of the game.
