One of these threads for a noggerless weekend - where did you stand in the proper Boothen End? Me, I started on the left side at the front under that manky 'executive box' thing, next to the pathway which led to the vile bogs and the gate to the Paddock. I was small and it was easy for my dad to stand me on a box and lean me against the railing so i could see. All around us where real old stagers, funny and friendly. I remember once, when Phil Heaths couldn't kick straight, that they all ducked when he kicked the bill anywhere near the goal. In front of me, on the other side of the gangway were a bunch of properly miserable blokes, one with blond hair and one very tall, spending every game moaning their heads off. When I was older I moved to the middle, under the tannoy, (incidentally if anyone moans about the tannoy at the Brit that is like the most articulate person in history whispering clearly into your ear compared to the abomination at the Vic.
Towards the end of the old ground I remember games where you could sit where you liked on the terracing because there was no bugger there.
Where did anyone else habitually stand?

At the end, behind the roof support pole 'C' (about 10ft behind it) so I had to sway when thebattack/defence switched!
Always met up with mates in 'our' spot
From being a kid though, used to sit on the bars at the front, then in early teens went to the back (near the box) where other teens congregated!

Started off on the Boothen as a 9 year old.I used to stand just to the right of the goal (as I was looking at it)about 6 railings back.My aunt and uncle used to stand further back in the middle-I went with my aunt.I'm not sure many 9 year olds would do that now,but back then it was quite normal. All the people around me used to make sure I was ok.

Blimey, we must have stood very close together. Being a Stoke fan in those days was much more of a village than it is now.

The left side, the left side, the left side Boothen End!
Must have been close to pturner judging by his post.
After my first match there realised I needed to be right in front of a barrier and not right behind one!!

A bit higher than the cross bar - to the left of the left hand goalpost as you looked onto the pitch, sometimes a bit higher up but always -roughly the same spot

In the middle, back of the front section, just in front of the entrance level.
In front of Zigger zagger,
"We are the Boothen End, the City we defend"

After my first match there realised I needed to be right in front of a barrier and not right behind one!! Yep - the bruises on ones hipbones after a goal/mental were sore ones if trapped on a crush barrier! I remember taking my then girlfriend (now wife) to her first game v Barnsley, Boxing Day I think 1995/96 - we won 1-0, there were 19,000 there but it was packed on the Boothen - we scored and she ended up a good 20 feet away from me in the pandemonium - given she is only 5ft 4 she didnt take much to it, and has only been about 3 times since! My words of 'you just have to roll with it and enjoy it' didnt offer much solace to her!

Packed to the rafters every week it was Not really was it sarcy :-) There were many times you could have set up a picnic there was so much space, but when it was packed, it was special I can remember Leyland DAF games midweek with 4-5k there, sparse isnt the word! League games in the last few seasons there was always space aplenty, especially at the sides and at the front - but people still crammed together in the middle centre for a decent enough atmosphere.

In front of roof support D, just in front of the middle walkway. Started off on the old Stoke end as a nipper, then front of the boothen, the boothen paddock for a few seasons before settling in the boothen.

We used to stand on the left side also, about half way between the executive box and the goals roughly behind the first barrier things that you loved to get crushed against when the boothen surged forward as one!

Right by the pillar with 13 on it. I was only a nipper and could see the pitch from there. Great times!

As you walked on, 5 mins before kick off, three or four steps down near the middle, just on the left goalpost as you're looking down.
I miss it so much.

I used to stand just to the right of Stan on the other side of the gangway.
