Pieters has had a dip but then they pretty much all did, Jack for consistency, Imbula for next year, worth an advance bet, I've never been so excited by a young player since Chamberlain, not fancy dan or spectacular but I reckon he could tear this league up with a fag on. But deffo Jack this season

Johnson had 2 or 3 poorer games at the start of the season, and was really poor against Man U. Apart from that, he hasn't put a foot wrong. Butland has been class all season and saved us more points than he's cost us, definitely. Affelay is up there too. If Imbula continues as he has the previous 2 games then he could be a contender too I agree with most of what you say, but I think that you are a bit unfair regarding Johnson's performance at Old Trafford where he finished up playing as a makeshift centre half due to injuries. Before he got moved to CB he got ripped the shred by Marshial. Who to be fair had a very good game, and is very quick

Glenn Whelan by a country mile.
Which would also right the outrageous wrong of last season.

Butland
The only outfield player to be consistent is Shawcross and he ain't played enough.
Arnie and Whelan 2nd and 3rd

Butland by a country mile. He probably is player of the season but I wouldn't say by a country mile. Other than Everton where he stopped a potential double figure wupping he's been pretty average since Christmas. Small shout for Glen Johnson?

Johnson would be my second choice, I'd love to know the amount of points Butland's saved us this season.

Marko Arnautovic by a million miles.
It's always easier to defend rather than create and score.

Arnie very inconsistent, wouldn't get my vote Jack, Whelan and Johnson are right up there but for me it's Pieters. He's been solid all season and a big part of our squad

Wollscheid is mine so far. For £2.5m you will not find a better CB in Europe - the guy has been an absolute monster this season.
Butland has had a fantastic debut season at #1 and Johnson has looked like he's playing the football of his career at right-back - it's still hard to believe he's early 30's now as he runs up and down that right hand side like an 18 year old kid.
We've had a fair few stand out performances though and we're not done yet!

I understand the calls for Butland, but once again, I think it has to be Shawcross. He alone is the difference between title winning form and 3-0 thrashings.
