We've just come off the back of three consecutive 3-0 defeats in the league and have probably seen the first bits of discontent that there have been since about January in Hughes' first season. The response from Hughes has been fantastic and he's shown some real, top quality management.
The problems of recent weeks have been apparent for all to see, and while some can't really remedied, such as the lack of defenders, he made the changes today that made the difference. The style of play was much better, with much more emphasis on moving the ball forwards quickly, rather than maintaining possession and going sideways. We were much more potent on the break, instead of slowing every move down. We weren't afraid to mix it up when necessary and play a long ball to Walters. Best of all, though, we actually looked at creating chances, rather than just keeping the ball around the box.
A much improved display and lots of credit to Hughes.

The encouraging thing for me is that Hughes said last week that they would now have more chance to work on stuff in training as the heavy fixture schedule is now easing. He identified the things you referred to, and seems to have been true to his word in fixing them. Hopefully this will be the start of our now annual second half of the season surge.

Superb management from LMH.
The test for any manager is picking up your team after a poor run - that is exactly what he did.
The extra training this week, consigned the recent, tip tap crap to the bin and rightfully so.
This was a display built on a solid defence with SJW providing a superb focus when we got the ball forward.

He showed a great deal of nous in turning things around and clearly the management got the message across to the players in training this week as to what was expected. A good two weeks of rest now, with several walking wounded hopefully coming back, and Bojan refreshed, with two winnable home games to follow - we can still push on for a higher finish than last season.
