One thing that might help us is if we keep our fullbacks in a more defensive mode and stop them marauding up the wings......when this happens and they lose the ball, teams break on us and score or come close to scoring .....let our so called wingers do the attacking down the flanks.....and take on the fullbacks on the outside and get to the byeline......they are playing it to safe by having the mentality of keeping the ball at all costs ...stretch the fullbacks....and so what if you don't get past...he may kick it ou t for a throw in,or better still a corner.........hang on a corner, forget it.......

I think it's the mental and physical effort that was put into the Liverpool game that cost us the Palace game, that was not the fault of the managers approach but the timing of the two games. Surely no one on here is suggesting Hughes should have fielded a weakened team against Liverpool in order to give greater priority to the F.A.Cup game?

With regard to the League no one will really remember if we finish 12th or 14th. They will if we finish 18th. Not very likely at the moment, but it will happen if we don't find our way. Too good to go down? Maybe not even that. Despite that I remain optimistic that we can get the 5-7 points needed to stay up.

Some recent posts have had me well and truly gobsmacked! We are a team that's in transition and we're gradually strengthening our squad. There have been a couple of players that maybe shouldn't have been sold but name me one manager that has not made mistakes? Some of the football that I have witnessed this season is by far the best I've seen over the 35 years that I've been watching Stoke. At times it really works, others in does not but Jesus I've been amazed at how impressive it's been at times. Come on lads, we're on the up after a pretty shit few weeks. Sorry, it needed saying, especially to the ones that boo our team! That's the problem 'transition' what are we in transition to? On the evidence of the last few weeks we are becoming relegation fodder. We need to see some sign that this transition is moving in a positive direction and there isn't any at the moment. The list is endless. Shipping goals. Defence relies on one player. Forwards can't score. No shots from outside the box. Not moving into space for one another. Unforced errors. Lack of energy, urgency. No change of tactics. Big signings not performing. It is so frustating and that's what causes the anger?

We won't get relegated but we for sure won't make Europe.
Our season is over and I think the players know it, hence the lack of motivation in the Everton game.
We might as well start building for next season, get shenton and other youngsters involved. Hughes seems to have forgotten we have an u21 team

The Liverpool episode was a real kick in the nuts and so you can forgive the FA Cup and The Shit away games. Saturday was simply pathetic though and highlighted a few problems that need fixing quickly. I have no idea from one week to the next who will play up front. Wollschied is a liability and although he's had a few decent games you just sense you are always a moment away from a fuck up. Saturday won't be easy but we need to get it sorted for the 2 home winnable games coming up. I am massively pissed off about the FA Cup. Palace had lost 5 on the bounce in the Prem. It felt like most of what remained of our season died that day. With regard to the League no one will really remember if we finish 12th or 14th. With you 100% on this.

We need to match them physically in order to earn the right to play. If we don't do that we will get beaten for sure.

It comes naturally for most and they hate Stoke city winning as they Never appear on the board after a win.
Bizarre indeed.

No geoff........he picked a strong side against Liverpool obviously....but should have picked his strongest team available for the Palace match....instead he picked a weakened team in order to save players for the Man U. game...

The season died?! Fuck me, how long have you been watching Stoke? What's that got to do with it? Just where we've come from and the years of lower league football. To say the season died (when we're in the premier league) makes me shake my head in disbelief. I can understand disappointment but not some of the stuff that's spouted on here.

As much as it pains me to say....Palarse are still a very good team and I think it was a big ask off the back of a midweek game with extra time and the wrong result. We still are capable of a top half finish and I expect that if we get our act together.

Raised expectations Record signings (x2) He should have played his strongest team against Palace and geed the players up. Instead he threw in the towel and more or less gave the message out that he wasn't bothered about the FACup. To all intents and purposes the season expectations all fizzled out and then the capitulation of the following two games has seen a massive depression of feeling. If we lose Saturday it could turn into a horrible season.

Shawcross will return this week, partner Wolly in what will be the best ever central partnership seen in the prem(Berlin Wall 2) - we will not conceed another goal all season. Odem will be given a long run out and regain his former glories. Shaq will show us what he is made of by scoring 20 goals, Bojan and Arnie will be in the form of their lives and also chip in with 20 goals each. Stoke will pip Leicester to the title with the last kick of the season(A 30 yard humdinger volley from Wilson), causing Lineker to start crying on match of the day - this was my dream last night and my dreams always, always come true, I also had a threesome with Cameron Diaz and Zak Dingle in the same dream, but I am hoping only part of that comes true - I am not attracted to Diaz in the slightest.

If the likes of Bojan Shaqiri Joselu Pieters MVG was a weekend team then people have lost the plot plus Ryan was injured anyway and we had good chances to win the game from one of our record signings and we lost by 1 goal from a very strong palace side who seem to be our bogey side just lately. Certain players needed a rest as the whole squad needs really after the past month or so with fixtures coming thick and fast and a two legged semi final.
Modern day football can't people understand that rotation is part of it certainly in cup games but for some reason we are expected to play our first 11 in 'Every game' and risk burn out and more injury.
Ace methods.

Some need to pull their heads out of their arses and appreciate how far we've come in the last couple of seasons. Hughes is attracting players that we could have only dreamed of signing a few seasons ago, at a very reasonable price in comparison to some of deals that are being made by other clubs. He's building a squad and will continue to do so, providing he gets the backing, which he appears to be getting. I was well and truly embarrassed with the booing against Everton and for the first time in years, felt like smacking a couple of the dickheads that sit near to me. The very same dickheads who would be nowhere to be seen if the team were to be relegated (which I don't think will happen for one minute). By my reckoning, there's probably about 10,000 of these. Shameful.

That was never going to happen so I think you can safely say it won't now.

Away matches were dull constantly and the quality we have now is much better. Hughes has turned the club into a much more attractive proposition for players.

Season over? I've never read such unadulterated rot.
We're 6 points off 6th place with 39 points left to play for. If we can patch em up and pinch 3 points at Bournemouth on Saturday, we could be in for a great finish to the season. The break is much needed - most of them seem to be carrying niggles or are just plain knackered.
I can't believe anybody who has heard Mark Hughes' steely determination can possibly think he will endorse that. He is building all the time, not just for next season, as the signing of Imbula clearly demonstrates.
Get a grip and give the team your support.

Maybe so but its degrees of the same issue. I think you are slightly understating how poor / dull some of the home performances have been and, right or wrong, home games are what the majority of people look to for their entertainment and value for money. Im certain it will all resolve itself fairly soon and everyone will be back on board.

, also Shaqiri playing well below fitness , I find stuff like this frustrating he arrived in August yet 6 months later looks way off the level needed to have a real impact in this league , I know it takes some players time but !!! I'm sure he isnt saying ot the club I'm taking a long time to settle in so only pay me half of my wages is he ? Similarly Bojan seemsto have joined the "cant do 90 minutes club" along with Ireland and Adam and the Diouf thing is a mystery . Considering the talent we have and the few highs we have seen its been a very frustrating season and when sides like Leicester and Watford can play well beyond their potential the questions need to be asked why we cant get these players to perform consistently and be fit
