Someone today highlighted how Leicester play lik we did under Macari, solid back four sitting deep knocking long balls into channels for quick strikers and supporting quickly, ala Steino ,Gleghorn etc .Good comparison i thought.

I'd rather not watch longball every week. To this day that '92-'93 season rates as my favourite season as a stoke fan, we seemed to batter every fucker left, right and centre. Always in-your-face, fast attacking football. I'd happily watch that again anytime!

My favourite ever SCFC manager EVER incl the last two
I reckon that side that won at NF and beat Man U back in 1993 would beat our current side, at least on this season. Really feel if he had stayed and kept hold of Stein then we'd have had a fair chance of being Premier league 14 years earlier. Remember Ian Cranson, still the best defender Ive personally seen at the club, at least on a par with Ryan and slightly better on the ball
Instead we got Jordan, then Bates etc and it all went pear shaped. Lou proved that coming back doesn't work does it. But what could have been....
Anyone remember Kenny Lowe from the Jordan days?? God he was crap, looked like Rooster Russell but with about a 10th of the ability

My favourite era - was when I first got into it; I was early 20s and wasn't at all interested until then. Looked out for results but saw nothing in the play that hooked me until a work mate encouraged me to an early season game against Wigan that I think Foley got the winner in. It all changed for me after that, Stein was just poetic and the way the team played the full 90 mins, winning many a game in the last minutes. I even liked big Dave Regis as a foil for Stein. I would have backed Overson and Cranson to do a job for any top flight season back then
Magic times - and I remember fondly the shirt from the 92-93 season - still my favourite Stoke top

Then again in mitigation, Lou also brought in Toddy Orlygsson too.
Great days and a reminder that this premiership lark isn't the be all and end all

I suspect Leicester fans are feeling the same way now as we did in that season!
Its all about winning isn't it? But that Macari side had the goals as well for entertainment - and no tippy tappy or prima donnas either
Its bleak for Villa right now and maybe too late..but if they sort it out and get winning again in the Chmpionship they wont dwell long on relegation.
The whole PL thing is overrated, after 8 years the novelty has worn off, the best thing is seeing a winning team and seeing goals, regardless of division.
Not saying id like to swop places with Vale but it aint life and death either. Id hate for season after season to be grinding out results just so as not to get relegated just to sit at the so called top table.
The important thing is to never get the club into deals they cant honour should the worst happen!

Some reminders of the times
Great goals, great memories - some of he pic quality is poor but its cool in a retro way, some of it from VHS not your 4K malarky

I'd rather not watch longball every week. I thought macari style was exciting. Long ball from back but from midfield attacking. A lot different than the long ball as we know it

A lot different than the long ball as we know it Surely leicester are better to watch than our slow meaningless possession style!? A long ball is not bad if played properly with players like Vardy, Mahrez, albrighton and Kante!

Anytime!!
I would honestly watch the football on these vids than some of the pointless passing we are seeing at present regardless of division
its proper blood & thunder!
I just wish I could find something of Toddy Orlygsson - never forgot that stunning goal against Sunderland where he ran at the whole defence, nutmegged two players and then finished with an exocet into the top corner

I feel we are progressing but need a bit of bite to go with creativity. Hopefully imbula is a driving midfielder to get play moving quickly.

Yeah OK. It wasn't the top flight. That team under lou was a pleasure to watch at times. Every player knew their job. A never say die attitude, a great unbeaten run, and Steino plus Bertie just clinical. Great memories.

For me, its Cransons bullet header against WBA that stands out, remember that 4-3 win well, classic mental at the end!
Wish we had that lethality nowadays at setpieces!
Imagine a defence with Cranson & Shawcross at the centre...The master and the apprentice!
Overson had his limitations, a bit like Huth but Cranson somehow pulled him up to his level
