You must see that we need another bastard winger though? Surely? I'm interested in bringing in any player in any position that is an improvement on what we have got. Another way of putting it is that I am only interested in seeing us make marquee signings who will be first team regulars and capable of improving the quality another notch. Whether that type of player becomes available in this window or we have to wait until the summer remains to be seen. Im definitely not interested in bringing in a sticking plaster who will be adequate for the short term while we get everyone firing again but will ultimately end up sitting in the stand or on the bench at best. We have plenty of them. As far as a winger is concerned that rule applies and when you consider that our most potent combination features Arnie and Shaq as the width supported by Johnson and Erik bombing on it is going to have to be some player to be worth our while. It certainly rules out players such as Townsend as I have seen mentioned. The club has enough makeweights to lose from the squad without kneejerk additions of the likes I have seen mentioned. We are not about needing squad players anymore. We are about upping the quality window after window. As I said it is going to be a hell of a player who will improve on Arnie and Shaq so if we don't bring in a winger I wont lose a moments sleep. A makeweight will only block the path of some promising young player or two. We need a fast back up winger who is a winger. We don't need a marquee signing. We need someone who can come in and actually play on the wing. We have 2 wingers and for a side that imo rely on them for our attacking play that is criminal. We haven't got any promising wingers who are even close. The squad balance is poor I agree. One of the reasons I think MH has been poor this season.....

I know we are in a good position in the league and I'm very happy this season overall. But.... When was out last really good performance? Our recent form suggests a while ago. West Brom - Lost - Very poor display & tactics all wrong Doncaster - Won - average to poor performance Liverpool - Lost - Poor performance & wrong tactics Norwich - won - Poor overall performance but managed to get a win in the end. Arsenal - drew - ok performance - could of done better, could of done worse. Leicester - lost - worst performance of the season. Performances have been very worrying of late. We need to get back to full fitness and get firing again.

I'm not being funny but a few years ago finishing between 8th and 12th in this league was a pipe dream now some look at it as failure get fucking real.

We're joint 6th in the 'last six' form table and have 13 points out of 18 in the last six at home. We've been playing well enough without hitting the heights we can. Yesterday was a massive disappointment though. We were second best in every facet of the game. It was woeful mate but some of the threads that have followed it have been embarrassing and utterly appalling if I'm being honest ....it was one of those one off games that occasionally rears its head ...no more no less I'm embarrassed reading them Should be used to it now Werrington. I don't think if we had played well but lost, the reaction on here would have been any different. The way we started the season i am more than happy where we are at present. We are in the semi finals of the capital one cup, still in the fa cup,and are level 8th on points in the barclays premier league nearing the end of January. It will never be enough for some.

The Arsenal game wasn't a great performance, decent considering the standard of opposition but not great by any means. You can count the number of really good performances on one hand . We've had as many awful performances as we have great

Lack of squad rotation Average summer window Ageing squad Poor subs Poor squad balance Strange contract renewals The false 9 Strange treatment of some players Square pegs in round holes Playing Adam for too long Playing Walters for too long Playing Wolly for too long Yeah. It's been another odd season where we seem to be getting results but a lot of things could be better.

The thread title says good performance. Arsenal was a good performance. The rest is knicker wetting hyperbole by the usual few. We have had several poor performances lately though, wouldn't you agree ? We have, I do agree. But when the whole thread subject is 'when was our last good performance' when it was in fact only 6 days earlier is a bit ott for me.
