1) We have to spend more money if we want to challenge for top 6. Hughes has spent a net of around 10 million in the past 3 years. This season we're the lowest spending club in the premier league. The manager has done a remarkable job but the squad needs to be shaken a bit. As much as I agree with the others about the extra-wing cover, I think a central midfielder is a priority. We need someone who can pick up the ball & run a good 30-40 yards with it. We're playing too many sideways passes. No one is willing to push forward.
2) Shawross is the one & only real leader in our team. With all due respect to Leicester, they didn't look like scoring at all until Ryan came off, after which we were shambolic. Earlier in the season when Shawcross was out injured, Geoff Cameron stepped up but this time he was injured too. The last time Wilson & Wolly played together was against Watford. We all know how that turned out. Perhaps a new central defender isn't that bad an idea. In the meantime lets hope that Wolly steps up. Muniesa in for the Liverpool game?
3) Charlie Adam deserves another chance in the #10 role. Bojan has been poor there in the past few weeks, Shaqiri was, if anything, worse. Why not give good ol Charlie another shot in his preferred role, where he won't be a defensive liability?
4) Time to ship out some of the older players. I mean seriously. Odemwingie, Ireland, Sidewell, Wilson & I'd argue even Crouch are surplus to requirements. You have to let some players go in order to bring in new players.
5) Time to give youth players a chance at the highest level. Those lads from Barcelona & Real Madrid. Aren't they wingers? Why not give them a chance in the next couple of games. Even if it is only for a few minutes.
6) Is the jury out on Marco Van Ginkel? Should we keep him or let him go?
7) Need a big response on Tuesday.
