Tough one. Whelan, Arnie and Pieters have got to be the top 3. Butland, Ryan and Bojan would have been up there if not for injury or in Butlands case, not getting a crack until this season.
Overall, im going to have to give it to Whelan. The model of consistency and, without him in Ryans absence, we could have easily crumbled.

My head says Whelan, but my heart says Arnie. Went with Arnie for entertainment value.

I'm going Arnie, Wollscheid and Butland. Tbh, it's really tough choosing, Pieters and Johnson - outstanding. Bojan - class. Cameron a revelation.

ARNIE... outstanding twelve months. Now adding assists and goals to his undoubted mercurial ability. A complete player; strong in defence and attack, quick, skilful, unconventional and impudent. A unique talent, a privilege to watch. He's flourishing with the movement and quality around him. We know all that, he's destined to light up the Euros, wouldn't be surprised if he wins a Premiership accolade: Goal of the Season, Player...
Notable mentions: Shawcross's back battle and return to glorious fitness and form reinforces his standing as an SCFC legend. Whelan deputising as Captain and keeping the engine room ticking over in Ryan's absence. Pieters dependable rock since his arrival and has made LB his own. His cross/goal was better than Shaq's {smile}. He's added more attacking vim and some flair to his armoury this season too. Mint player. Wollscheid. Shame that his fine performances last season were tainted by a couple of howlers. Folk tend to forget his brilliant performances early doors against Leicester and Arsenal particularly. New to the Prem he did fine. This year he's forged a starting place and is adapting to playing on the left, partnering Ryan. Last season they looked the uneasiest of the central permutations. {Allowances should be made having since learned that Ryan could hardly walk at that stage.} Still early days and room for improvement but for me his fantastic blocks, headers and distribution counter balances the odd gaffe. He's contributed to clean sheets against Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd making the most expensive attackers look ordinary in the process. I'm sure we'll see fewer, for now it's entertainment value, he's a character, pisser when he miss judged the bounce and nearly kicked DeBruyne's head off {and no doubt dished out a bollocking to someone}. The Tower. Jack, Charlie {if only for the Chelsea goal} SJW.
Get the feeling the Player of this season will be a closer call.

Difficult one really, Shawcross being injured, Butland only being in goal from August and Arnie constantly being inconsistent (but lately he's got more consistent). So I've gone for Pieters, then it would be Whelan.
