I need a new electric shaver, (I don't do razor/wet shaves). I've had Philishaves in the past, and I'm currently using a £10 battery only Braun foil shaver, that does a half decent job. I'm looking at the series 7 Braun shavers, and some of them come with a cleaning unit, and others do not. I had a cleaning unit with a Philishave, but stopped using it when I realised it was going to cost me money to but cleaning alcohol etc.
Anyway, the question I have, are these cleaning units worth the bother and extra cost, or are they just a way to get more money out of me?

My cleaning unit is named Sue^. you have to feed her occasionally but then again she does have other uses =).
Only a Philishave touches my stubble the rest just feel like a thousand pairs of tweezers, I just use the little brush for cleaning though.

I prefer wet shave, seem to get a cleaner cut than electric and it makes the skin feel really refreshing and smooth compared to electric. That said, an old friend used to use electric all the time and seemed to get a close clean cut and still have immaculate skin. So I guess it's all personal preference. Can't beat the fresh feeling after wet shave though I think. I like a wet shave, every once in a while, and it's better than any electric shave, however an electric shave for me, is much faster, and I'll take speed over pleasure every time. My wife says the same thing. P.S. You're looking at your "old friend" a little too closely...
