Yeah, Im not really a huge fan of the first film. When you compare this to the trailers for the new Star Wars it looks a bit pedestrian. it also reminds me of that dreadful Battleship movie. Id probably go & see it but the CG looks a bit ropey although they may still be working on it. Ill reserve judgement for now; strangely its really flown in under the radar with very little hype. There's only Battle Los Angeles that really excited me in recent years when it comes to alien invasion pics
This is still the definitive alien invasion film, despite its age

No Will Smith is a big blow, did he turn it down or was there never a part for him?
Looks a bit over reliant on CGI in parts, I'll still go and see it though, loved the first one even if it is a bit "USA USA USA"
Edit: after a quick Google search it appears Will Smith was too expensive and his character has been killed off. Apparantly killed in a failed test flight of craft using alien technology

It looks half decent. I'll give it a go, but I think it may not be anywhere near as good as the first.

Independence Day three will probably have a bigger space craft than Earth. You would also think with the technology that was pinched from the first lot the human race could have come up with something better than floating F18's to defend with.

Not a fan looks a carbon copy of the first film, back in its day ID was awesome for special effects etc but the story & plot was weak. This looks just as bad.

Looks ok but when will this generation stop copying everything and re hashing it with a PC agenda.
What next Jaws returns , oh and he's a vegetarian or the return of Tarzan but he's in a Burqa and oh he's really a girl.
Please Please Please no more re hashes.
