May be a bit of a cock but fair play, I know Scholesy and Coates did something similar in Singapore.

To be honest, I really like Pardew. He's a passionate guy. The abuse he received at Newcastle was unbelievable and un called for. He did a great job there and they deserve to be where they are.

I agree, he has moments of madness but then so do a lot of people, I don't really understand why he gets the shit he does tbh.

Sad that this is being highlighted so much. Years ago, players and managers did this every week.

May be a bit of a cock but fair play, I know Scholesy and Coates did something similar in Singapore. Said on another thread, used to really dislike him but since he's been at Palace, I've gained a fair bit of respect for his management and seemingly him as a person. Remember someone saying after our match at home last season that they caught the train back to London with the Palace team and Pardew took time to speak to him and his son and heap plenty of praise our way, suppose that's easy when you've raided us of three points but still a nice touch. Strange really, he's gone from a total git in my opinion to someone I really quite like.

Personally think he is a very good coach and would replace Hodgson with him tomorrow ,only time he came across as a bit of a tit was his time at Charlton.

I think it was the pressure of the Newcastle fans that caused him to act like he did. He openly said after head butting that Hull player that he was going to see someone about his behaviour on the side line. Since he has moved to Palace I think he's whole demeanour has changed. I like him

It was when he was at Charlton, saying teams like Stoke would benefit later in the season, playing on heavier pitches. At the time it pissed me off, felt like he was looking down his nose at us. The success we've had since those days though, I really couldn't care less now.

Sad that this is being highlighted so much. Years ago, players and managers did this every week. Does seem like these days the relationship between the manager and the fans is a lot more guarded and distant. It is more distant because managers have to protect themselves. On 5live the other night there was a managers special forum on. Tony Pulis said he'd never go in a pub these days. What happens is you go in a pub and have a pint or a glass of wine and someone spots you takes a photie puts it on Twitter or Narcissistbook and instead of a couple of drinks it becomes twenty five pints and a bottle of rum. Also if a manager freely engages with supporters they have to be so guarded what they say because anything can be misunderstood and it very quickly becomes a story. There is the other possibility where someone, a fan of a rival club perhaps, just makes something up and it becomes a big 'twitter sensation'. Before we played Blackpool in the league cup in 2009 PNE manager Alan Irvine was in the car park. Some Blackpool fans saw him and went and had a chat with him. It was all amicable with friendly jibes. The Blackpool fans asked Irvine to have his photo taken holding a Blackpool scarf and he refused. It was all meant in fun but Irvine knew within three minutes it would be up on tinterweb and next time PNE lost it would be brought up thrown in his face and he's get dogshit in the mail. Great tool though this interweb lark is in some respects it has created a body of superciliousness. By the way, I got the feeling Tony Pulis would love go for a pint and get talking to people about football.

Sad that this is being highlighted so much. Years ago, players and managers did this every week. Absolutely, when Waddo was manager the team bus would always stop at the Lawton arms for a quickie, when returning from away games

I like Pards far more now than when he was at Newcastle. Always seemed humble in victory but a cock after he'd lost. Seems to show a different side to himself these days, one which is quite affable. A bit like Hughes I suppose, before he joined us he came across as a bit of an organ too.

I would get rid of Hodgson and put Pardew in charge of the England team in a heartbeat.
I'm saying this as someone who thinks he's a been a bit of a dick for years. He has done an amazing job at Palace and seems able to channel his passion in the right ways now.
