I think we're talking at cross purposes mate. I'm on about Bass Meadows in Burton and I think you're on about Nottingham. Still, same river I suppose Haha!!! What a dick. Sorry lads. Yeah I thought you were on about Nottingham for some reason. Don't worry we were talking bollocks anyway (as usual in my case) Anyway get some bloody work done.

Oh mate that takes me back. See the flat roofed building to the right, that was the bar. You could stand in the bar having a pint watching the game (you'd have been too young for all that malarkey) and watching the home fans change ends at half time. PS the great Brian Clough used to have his seat in that stand. The rest of the ground was just tin lean to's with ash floors.

I remember as a kid standing outside the entrance gates and wanting to meet Bob Gaulden,he was Burton's big player at the time. Also Richard Jobson played for Burton and went onto have a great career. This thread is taking me back to great times, told my wife i am going to a Burton home game in the new year.If it was not because i love Stoke City i would be a Brewer.

Knew Richard, not very well though, played football with and against his bother. Also played with Darren Stride when he was 15 up at Rangemore. He was a beast even then. Can I just clarify I played football with Stridey when he was 15 and not anything of a criminal nature

Burton has a very large football support base, but due to the lack of league football the area mainly has Derby County fans. But the club is important to locals and could get bigger, very well run club. That's my impression of Burton, always a murmur of approval if Derby and Forest are winning at half time. They own the stadium, and I believe little or no debt. BAFC were just about bobbing along financially just after they moved to the Pirelli, they really struck lucky with 4 big pay days in just over 2 months, a sell out v Man U to officially open the ground, a 4,000 v P'boro in a cup replay, a televised sell out 0-0 with Man U in the cup followed by a cut of a 53,000 televised replay at Old Trafford, incidently they took 11,000 to Man U they will need a few of them if they go up mind you away crowds will be higher but because of the ground lay out its about 1,600 tops, I also think they may have problems handling some of the more volatile travelling fans in the Championship Oh and I also think we will be playing them next season

If Burton do go up, and stay up, do they have the wedge to bring the ground up to 10000 seats? That's usually the straw that breaks the camels back for smaller clubs going up. If I recall they get 3 years to be compliant so it's not a massive outlay initially.
