Not quite sure why everyone is so stroppy about his comments from last season? He felt aggrieved and complained - something every manager does. He has lost his way a bit this season, but it is a huge shame to see an up and comer lose his job so easily. He was right as well. This board can be a sensitive place.

Having read the Oatcake for a couple of years it's fair to say that the opinions of a few on a message board aren't often a fair reflection of the paying supporter. I also think it's incredibly harsh on Monk. Can you give us any specific opinions that weren't reflected? Monk was wrong' by the way.

Mate look at the hysteria after a loss on this board for a perfect example. The anti-Pulis feeling on this board wasn't reflected at games. Walters is unfairly targeted on this board and a lot less so at games. There's examples going back years. On the whole this board is a lot more negative and most Swansea fans who've spoken up don't feel as though Monk got a fair chance to turn it round.

Why, because they don't tally with your opinion? Not in the slightest. Just by judging general opinion on match days and comparing it to the wrist slashing and hatred on here. You mean like people constantly carping on about how Arnie needed fucking off, offered nothing, was lazy and ruined the dressing room? Is that the kind of thing you mean? H

You get a good reflection of the consensus opinion on a messageboard. There are a wide range of opinions but the prevailing ones on the messageboard are generally the prevailing ones at the game. The anti-Pulis feeling wasn't the prevailing one for a long time until it became clear that we were going backwards and more and more fans on here and at the game lost faith in him. That seems to be what's happened with Monk as well. Let's not confuse 'some' with 'a majority'.

People don't like to be proven wrong and will stick to their opinions regardless. Even 3 seasons down the line with an excellent manager you can never go more than a month without people like BM, Pugsley, RAF or MarkW for example having a pop at the WBA boss. If an opposition dan stumbled across this board before the Bournemouth game they'd have thought we were in for a real season of struggle. It can be a good consensus but more often than not a vocal majority do swing things disproportionately.

Pulis is history, Hughes is our King, he is the present and the future. I didnt miss a lot! H You clearly have a bit of time on your hands so go through my posts and see any "begrudging" praise. It's been pretty full on and I still stand by my view over the previous two season that he didn't do enough to deserve his Oatcake rimming. Something Hughes also thought when he had Moses ahead of him in the pecking order.. So I'm not backtracking and I'm delighted to say he's been one of our standout performers and that he deserves a new deal.

Even at Stoke we tend to pretty muted now, there's been so many times where the crowd has been split roughly 50/50 and the board has completely gone either one way or the other, not in terms of chants but in terms of random outbursts around me in B22. It's hard to believe that the Swansea MB all wanting Monk out is fair. It's like Shawcriss managing us, having his best striker sold then having a bad run and everyone turning against him. Some people just post uneducated stuff and follow a majority. RAF - it's over mate you tried to call me out on Arnie and I tried to call you out on Pulis. There's no point running in circles. I truely hope you did enjoy the games as I'm enjoying Arnie's performances this season.

This is the best barometer of fans opinion there is away from the stadium but for most of the last managers tenure, the mood at the ground and on here was like chalk and cheese.
The Gobshites certainly dictated a mood on this board which more often than not was a world away from the more positive and boisterous mood at the ground.

It may be worth noting that the younger generation (with notable exceptions) are far more likely to post online than those of us under 30/35. My old man is just into his 50s, goes every home game but would never contemplate posting online. I think that could account for the slight deviation in opinions. Like you I can't imagine every Swansea fan turning on a club legend. I think in reality it's probably a 40/60 split one way or the other, but that's my initial point. Online the vocal majority take over hence we post other fans views of us, get offended then go to an away game and they're all sound.

There was plenty of moans about the teamsheet during 2012 but you're right there was no apparent divide and everyone backed TP. Wigan 2-2 draw was the 1st notable game TP was starting to lose a lot of the fans. For the 1st time in ages he changed things, it worked and we went 2 up, a very good goal by Wigan had him panicking and reverted to type (Including the monumental mistake of moving Whitehead who had already been booked into midfield) and almost cost us the match entirely. That game sticks in the mind for me.

Maybe so Rob but even if we say the board was divided that in no way reflected the mood at the ground between 2008 and 2012. The mood towards Pulis was divided from the binary season onwards as far as I'm concerned. I can only speak about the two completely opposite sides of the ground I sat in from then onwards, but I found there was very little talk of Pulis whatsoever. No one slagged him off, but no one praised him either. Anyone who was there through the Macari years would know how the supporters reacted towards a popular manager. I never saw that towards Pulis. I think the mood on this board was accurate, and people would generally voice their opinion knowing the worst thing that could happen would be that Sheiky or someone on the opposite side of the divide would call you a c@#t. At the ground, you just didn't know who was for or against and you were best keeping it to yourself to avoid genuine confrontation. There was good reason for both sides to have strong opinions, but it was always divided, post-binary at least.
