I think we should keep a Stoke Badge - having a Barca one would be a step too far!

There's the Latin motto to replace The Potters on the badge:
unum tactum eu in turbine
[one touch football in a hurricane]

Not much for the perception of our city and inhabitants though....
"Stoke-on-Trent is a grey town, a typical industrial city in northern England. A place where the pub is worshipped and they mingle for minutes and hours between pint and pint".
Grey town, industrial city. Pub worshippers who mingle for minutes and hours between pint and pint.
That can never be right, can it?

As their city was stripped and abandoned by their government, as their faith was buried into hibernation, waiting for their pride in their city to find an outlet to burst out internationally, as has happened regularly for 300 odd years, and to be recognized again. And I'll tell you what, tick followed tock followed tick followed tock followed tick" here's to waiting

And I'll tell you this for free, NO set of supporters have been more patient - or for that matter - more deserving of a return to the good times, than those who have supported Stoke City fc through thick & thicker.

I'm not all that comfortable with this Stokelona moniker. It could come back to haunt us, like the term West Brazil. I would prefer us to be known for our own brand and our own blend of solid defending, a fluid defensive midfield and a creative attacking midfield, which is the Stoke City I saw on Saturday. Too many comparisons with Barcelona can easily turn sour or become a pisstaking rod to beat us with.

Too many comparisons with Barcelona can easily turn sour or become a pisstaking rod to beat us with. I see your point but I'd rather us be likened to Barca than an English like say Arsenal. Stokelona also has great marketing potential (as can be seen by the Spanish press). Even being seen as a smaller Barca is great publicity for the club as it speaks volumes about how we play and what we aspire to be. The links with signing ex-Barca players are also relevant. Now we need Barca to start stocking Stoke shirts in their stores. I'd love to see some kind of mutual marketing campaign going on. We could be the Spanish fans second team as I can't imagine them liking any of the Prems top sides (Champions League competitors). I can see it now... a promo video ad of Barca v Stoke, close up shots of the superstars (Messi, Bojan, Suarez, Arnie, etc) as they walk out onto the pitch (switches from Brit to Camp) then some of that quality dribbling game footage, followed by some cracking goals from both teams. Could happen if we ever get the same sponsors. Carlsberg don't do Dream Teams, but if they did, they would probably be the best Dream Teams in the world.

I think we should keep a Stoke Badge - having a Barca one would be a step too far! I'm seriously debating using this as my FB profile photo. Not sure if it's a bit OTT though as I just shared that Spanish article. Either way, I've saved it for the future. Thanks.

Great stuff from the Spanish press - bet few of us could see this coming a few years ago! Great times to be a Stoke fan. I still can't believe we got out of the Championship! The Buzz of the League 1 Play off final wasn't quite a distant memory before this happened..... Are we dreaming? Am I going to wake up with a hangover, devastated thinking the last decade or so was only a dream while wearing my Asics top and programme with Gunnarsson on the front

Won't be long before Spanish fans are again wondering who Stoke City are.
