Good news but I thought he wasn't at his best today, especially second half when Young was getting forward more and left him for dead a few times. That said, he's ok to have an average game, when he's playing so many good ones.

Arnie needs to sign up also follow Eriks example. We need to keep our best players for as long as we can. Arnie knows he is loved by everyone. This current team is a credit to Mark Hughes and great to watch and we need them to stay together. Great time to be a stokie

I'm glad he missed that chance first half.....and then fell over the ball when sprinting clear second half. We can hopefully cover up the twenty five yard piledriver. A hat trick would really have had the vultures circling...... What i liked when he messed up was he smiled!was a time when the red mist would have rolled in and he would be on a downer.

Arnie will sign. He's our new Ric[/quote Precisely. We'll forgive him his tantrums, his occasional loss of form and red-mist defending. He needs to be playing and to be lauded. At a top 6 club he'd be right out of place and I'm not sure his "eccentricities" would be tolerated. Pity-patty continental football would be a real step backwards for him as well - he seems to thrive on sticking it to the big teams and on the physicality and pace of the Prem. He's thriving here and would be wise to stay for a few years yet.

He needs to stay. At his next club he won't have some dozy tool shouting "Needs Games" on an internet forum, every time he has a bad run of form.

Fucking brilliant and an actual real life left back, not Higgy, Clarke, Hill, Wilson, Collins et al, a proper bone fide left back and a class one at that!

After all those years in the wilderness we've been well and truly spoiled. All fully deserving of every bit of praise and recognition that comes their way.

But agreed he still doesn't get the adulation he deserves. A unique talent and a genuine joy to watch. Old school bustling winger with an ultra modern skill set.

Something new about Erik cropped up in the Telegraph match report: apparently LVG (as Holland coach) criticised him for 'lacking ambition' when he left PSV for Stoke. Erik got the last laugh today and reportedly put an imaginary pistol to his head as he walked off past LVG at the end of the game. Anyone notice that?

He's... Unpredictable Talented Moody Down-to-earth Slightly mental Honest Unconventional Hard working A team player Demanding
I just can't see where he would fit in besides us. All the 'Big Teams' will require him to adapt to the A4-mould, but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't suit him at all. I suspect he has some kind of freedom to improvise on the pitch for us, and that gives him an opportunity to express himself. I'm not sure he will find this opprotunity at an other club (a greedy agent might look otherwise, though). I do believe that SCFC and Arnie is a 99% match at the moment.

I love the guy - the finest first touch of any player I've ever seen, hands down. How many times have we seen him pluck a ball seemingly hurtling out of play out of the air with an outstretched toe and under instant control?
An absolute genius in one moment, pure comedy the next tripping himself up.
Daft as a fucking brush and yet sublimely gifted - definitely going to become one of my all time favourites.
