I'm not that concerned about new signings but I would say we could do with a centre half to cover Wolly & Ryan. Cameron did well in his covering role in midfield yesterday so I don't think we need to splash out there. I still think we have no immediate answer to our goal scoring problem, although with what we have at our disposal, We SHOULD be banging goals in for fun !! Not too concerned though as I'm confident we'll start firing soon with what we have.

Resign NZonzi who would return a better man for his short stay in Spain. No way , he's gone on to bigger and better things .

you can't afford to stand still and some of our squad are not getting any younger. We are in a position now though where we can look for quality over quantity and maybe replace one or two players per season(plus replace any we might lose). I'd also like to see fringe players outside your best 18-20, like Sidwell, Odemwingie etc replaced with younger players who can gradually compete for first team places. Some of these could hopefully come from lower divisions or better still from our own academy.

We need to give Bojan a 45 year contract. £1 million and 5 virginial sacrifices a week. Never happen the money would not be an issue finding the virgins would ! This is so true, as we're talking Stoke on Trent here!!!

If we can have another 'worst transfer window in history' (like the last one was) again in January, I'll be happy.

This squad was obviously going places. As I said in earlier posts, patience is needed. I believe yesterday was the beginning of a great period in Stoke's history, and also that players will want to play here. Yesterday was truly wonderful, and long term, things can surely get better. Don't take this as a negative post in anyway but given our history mate we've been in a golden era with a few blips since 07/08. Perhaps the start of the middle ground could be accurate but I think to say we're on the verge of something does a lot of disservice to the progress made by both the previous and current management engines. I get your point and yes our garden is looking particularly rosy.

The defence is fine, we have plenty of cover with Wilson and Muni waiting for a chance and Geoff being so versatile.
We could trim the midfield and offload Sidwell, Odem and possibly even Crouch too whilst we're doing some house work. Whelan Adam Cameron MVG and Afellay is more than enough for two spots.
We need a back up winger, preferably more direct and pacy than the other two, just from a horses for courses viewpoint.
Attack is fine with Diouf Walters and Joselu.
So in conclusion we need to shift before we buy and only the wing is a priority.

We do not score enough goals and that has to be a priority, everything else is ok to leave alone but we are in desperate need of a quality striker. Not one of our current crop has demonstrated their ability to produce consistently, Diouf could argue his case for a good run in the team but the others simply have not scored enough.

I think we've got quite a few already; Butland, Johnson, Shawcross, Shaqiri and Bojan definitely Muniesa, Arnautovic and Pieters possibly Whelan is interesting, theoretically he isn't a next level player but he has proved himself consistent and reliable at this level when I at least didn't think he was good enough - so definitely worth giving him a chance. Not next level, atm, Wollschield, Adam, Diouf, Walters Obviously the bench/25 would need upgrading, but some of that comes from replacing Wolly etc and them moving to the bench to replace our current bench What does Wolly have to do convince people he may not be Bojan OR Shaq e.t.c but he is a essential part of the team and we do seem to do better with Shawcross /Wooly combination.

It's now about swapping our older fringe players for young versionsAnd a whelan upgrade Can't agree more with this. For me, it would be great to bring in one more player who would be an immediate first teamer, ideally in midfield, but can't help but think we might actually be able to get good value on berahino in January... More important though is beginning to clear out the squad of older, less interested, high wage players that are stopping any young blood from coming through. Ship out as many as we can from Crouch Odemwingie Sidwell Ireland Texeira And the squad will be healthier ahead of summer when we can try to bring in two/three more players.. In the mean time, inevitable injuries and suspensions will give the likes of Molina, moha, shenton, Telford etc a chance to show their worth in the odd premier league game

We are in the golden age already and it might be peaking. I hope not but we need to stay grounded and be aware it can go the other way. As our profile rises we could become a selling club like so many others.

If we could find a top striker to bang in 15 to 20 goals a season we would take some stopping. If Mark Hughes can pull that off then he truly is a genius :-)

A few mentions on here of shipping out sidewell, crouch, wilson, ireland and others. Mostly for their big wages.
Who are we going to replace them with who are homegrown?
Who would come for a lesser wage than them who you would want as a squad player? We can't compete with the big boys for the "next big thing" whose british so whats left that's better?
Only way I can see it is if we start investing large amounts of money in young british/homegrown players in the hope they'll become decent squad players or even first team.

We lost at Wembley due to having a few patched up players. Therefore equal quality replacements for shawcross , Whelan and one winger please. We are just about to enter a busy time.January 1st by about 10.30 am will do. So let's say we get equal replacements for both: How do you propose that we keep the following happy and paid: Wolly, Wilson, Muni, New Signing 1, New Signing 2, Geoff, Charlie, MVG, Afellay. This isn't FM and we have so much more depth than we did in 2011

To be honest, the only position we need to strengthen in the starting 11 is CM. I'd be more than happy for us to just sign a couple of exciting youngsters. No we DO need a third option with strength, pace and skill who can play on either wing. If Shaq or Arnie get injured or suspended we really don't have anyone in the squad to can play in their place(s) in the formation we played yesterday. Moha isn't ready yet, Diouf has pace but not the skill set for the wing and Walters (who has many good points) can't be regarded as like for like cover for Arnie or Shaq. Two more specialist wide players would be nice, but someone who can play both left and/or right would do nicely. I reckon Diouf is more than capable of doing what Arnie did on Saturday (as a back up of course) Not so much from Shaqs side though. I still say that if Shaq was out we'd be best looking at Affaley or Johnson. Back up for the right is more than likely MH's priority if he has one at all. The only signing I'd like to see in Jan if I'm honest is to make Van Ginkel permanent.

A midfielder to partner Whelan and then someone to replace Whelan in the next 2 years.
Not sure I'd trust Cameron to do what Whelan does. I've always thought he was a central midfielder but has he got the discipline to sit and fill in, I don't think he has. He's much better in the other role but we need someone much better than him at it. For now though he's a much better choice than Adam for the role.
