Just out of curiosity, thinking back to the old days and more recent history... Daryl Russell's name came to mind. I can't believe it's 8 years ago since he left. He was quite a decent Championship midfielder imo, between 2003-2007 he played 171 games for Stoke & scored 16 times. Didn't he leave under a bit of a haze ??

Don't think so. He went to Norwich didn't he? I always quite liked him.

Likable, reasonably dependable runner with a great engine but limited technical ability.
Apart from those games when Salif arrived and he became the new Bryan Robson.

Wanted to move back down south, but went to Norwich, geography obviously not his strong point.

The only football player I've ever seen who could slip on his arse on bone dry turf.

He was a typical Pulis workhorse who fell out with him on a regular basis I'm led to believe.

Best moment from Russell was that strike against Wolves on the opening day of the season (well the day after as it was a televised sunday game).

Don't think I've ever seen a footballer as bad at shooting as Daryl Russell. Apart from his strike on the opening day against Wolves every one of his shots ended up towards the back of the stand.

Never liked him. Dreadful footballer. Load of bollocks Bayern. Did well for us and was nowhere near what you say. Great pro too by all accounts who always put a shift in. We have had far worse in the years before and since!

I met him in Stafford years ago (he used to live down Tixall Road). Never met such an arrogant bastard in all my life. Told him I was a big Stoke fan and appreciated his work at the club while he stared at me like something he'd stepped in.

Heard he lived on the Tixall Road, never saw him about though. Couldn't shoot to save his life, sliced at absolutely everything, quite amazing for a professional actually. He had a good engine though and wasn't shy of receiving the ball. Far from the worst I've seen but nowt special either.

For a,mid table championship team I thought he was pretty decent. Obviously his prime wouldn't be good enough for the mid table prem side we are now

Never liked him. Dreadful footballer. In comparison to others who played for us around that time he was YayaToureesque. Just out of interest Bayern who ran over your cat, pissed on your chips and nicked your wallet???!!!! Cheer up man.....we're in the middle of arguably our best ever period as a football club!!!!
