Fuckin on the cheap.....the whole ground cost around £15M (more or less)... I remember watching central news once and Villa were building "ONE" new stand not long after our stadium had been built.....that one stand cost around £15M, just a touch more than the WHOLE of our stadium!!!

It's impressive how cheaply the Brit was built to be fair, hats off to them for that

I'm not saying necessarily that I love the stadium, I just mean it's an impressive financial feat. If it were up to me we'd build our own Camp Nou! Good point r.e. the tunnel though, hadn't really thought about that before but putting it next to the away fans is actually an awful decision.

Brightons ground is impressive, they had to wait a long time to get it and it's miles from there original home. Not particularly envious of it though. I sometimes wish the brit had a bit of uniqueness about it to symbolise the area. Maybe a bottle kiln in each corner with floodlights on top of them and a big Staffordshire knot adorning the main stand.

The Brit was based on the Riverside (cellnet) which I don't think was a bad blueprint to follow. Whilst the ground is painstakingly cheap looking in places on the outside, corners aside, I think it's fine once inside. Hate to say this but whenever I drive past the Wolves ground I always feel a pang of jealousy about the neat brick work, statues etc but we've got what we've got now. I'm sure the work that's been done in and around the ground over the years has considerably boosted that initial payment, but there's no getting away from the fact that aspects of it just look cheap and nasty. I'd love the one corner filled at least. As a side note, I loved the open days at the Vic, but I've only ever seen inside the Britannia once, and that was only to walk through the Waddington suite to an office overlooking the pitch. Gotta admit, I thought it looked nice. Would love a proper nose around.

It's been posted as a moan on here for the last 15 years.

Actually the stadium of light was built cheaper than the unfinished eyesore next to the incinerator No it wasn't. 23 million initially then an extra 6 mill on the northstand. So not only are you wrong but it was double the price of the Brit. I think the Brit is a terrible stadium , cheap looking and badly designed from its conception. All the hallmarks of Stoke on Trent council! H

Very Stoke on Trent City Council. But it's all we've got and I suspect we're not getting any dramatic improvements any time soon.

Living in Brighton I have been to a few games at the Amex. It is very impressive and with luck we may be playing there next season.
However it is a long way out of the City Centre and other than the pain in the arse Park and Ride schemes, it is a real drag trying to get there on match day on the trains from Brighton Station. Getting away is even worse as everyone heads for the train at 4.45pm. What they do to try and ease the long Q for the train is leave the bars open on the Concourse so if your not in a rush you can have a couple of beers in the ground after the game before you leave. Simple but genius.
I know it was only completed recently compared to our 18 year old stadium so costs were always going to be higher to build it but its definitely not 6 x better than the Brit.

The money spent on the Brit actually resulted in us being relegated. If anything demonstrates how skint SCFC were it's that. We spent what we could afford.
