Clattenberg was outside queuing to get until 20:03 due to the increased security checks, so missed kick off - John Moss had to step in,

Their fans were the loudest I've heard down here for some time and when they were all bouncing it looked fucking mint. Fair play to em. Only for about 15/20 mins though. For most of the first half and the end of the 2nd they were as quiet as us. Up until our second goal they were the most vocal I've heard for ages,I was sat in the Q Railings block 16 and they were loud as fuck at times.

I don't see Stoke ever becoming media darlings, no matter how we play or what we achieve.
Meh.

Welcome to the reality of football in all its glory.
You take the cream off the top and nothing else exists in the eye of the media, win or lose the teams outside the elite will rarely get any mention unless it's in a put down synopsis.
Fortunately the fans of the other 86 professional clubs plus the fans of the myriad of non league teams keep their flags flying outside the elitist bubble that is the premier league big 6 clubs.
Sure we get the odd blip where the Leicesters of the world strong arm their way into the limelight, but it's fleeting and the wankfest of the big 6 will carry on unabated.
So enjoy flying under the radar like many others, as we have the element of surprise when we sneak up and steal some silverware from time to time.

They did the show itself from the Britannia Stadium and then subsequently never mentioned the game itself. Bizarre really but I'm always happy for us to stay under the radar....

Sheffield Wednesday support was superb. Uber critical to say they weren't. I thought our support was pretty decent too seeing as it was like watching a practice match. Fired up play equals fired up crowd. It was a walk in the park.

Atmosphere tends to be poor when we are expected to win especially against lower league teams. I think it's because fans are more nervous as we have history for messing things up when the going's good. Last night's game looked as thought we still had a few gears to go through and that is probably contributed to why the fans were not so vocal.

I do believe that the Premier league is becoming abit more closer now due to the extra revenues that clubs like ours are now getting. Alot of clubs in our range are now upgrading the signings and are getting better players. Dont forget that some (if not all) of these so called top clubs are running on debt whereas we dont.

I bet Danny only mentioned Stoke in the sentence when talking about 'former Stoke City manager Tony Pulis'.

Morning Stokies, First of all, congratulations absolutely thoroughly deserved your win. In terms of the game, I thought it was men against boys, the one thing we have done all season is press the opposition affording them as little time to settle and in my opinion this is the something every lower league team needs to superior opposition. Tonight we looked very poor all over the park. At the back we seemed to panic and we certainly missed the creativity of Forestieri and the energy of Bannan. Hooper looks well off the pace up front and I think your defence simply ‘dealt’ with any threat carried by Joao. You will see from my previous posts that I travel to most games home (given) and away but last night was on a par with the performance at Charlton which I kindly put down to tiredness but having only played two games after the international break I can’t blame that on last night. We didn’t expect to win, I knew you guys would be a totally different proposition to Newcastle and Arsenal, given the stage of the competition and relative priorities, but what I did expect was for the lads to leave nothing on the pitch, give it 100%, close down, press high up the pitch, defend from the front and try and make the most of any chance that comes as a result of that, we didn’t. So, I don’t think based on that performance that any team will have had an easier more comfortable ride into the semi-finals of any cup competition than last night, but you can only beat what’s in front of you and as I have said without a doubt Stoke 110% deserved the result. Atmosphere, thought the whole place was flat if I am totally honest, our backing is usually a lot better than that but as a group of fans you kind of know the way your team is playing and it just didn’t spark us into any realistic hope and therefore resultant backing. I have to say (don’t get too upset) I thought your vocal support was even worse, even at 2-0 it was dead and I have to confess I am surprised, but I am sure you like us are better away than at home. A couple of additional items, we got put in a pub about 8 miles from the ground it was a Holiday Inn (or Premier Inn) with a pub next to it, the police escort was a joke made us wait there for 20 minutes before KO and then we just got shafted in traffic, ended up bailing out of the minibus on the duel-carriageway and climbing a banking up to path that went under and underpass of some sorts, this was a nightmare because somewhere along there my ticket dropped out of my pocket, anyway all other lads had gone in so what else could I do but retrace my steps…. And there it was laying on the path being trodden on by people ha ha anyway (this made me feel it was my night, it wasnt). Walking back with ticket safely tucked away just as you get to the corner that is facing you (sure you guys know where I mean) a fight broke out, I am pretty sure these where Wednesday fans having a go (did anyone else see what sparked this), surprised me to be honest, I had a last smoke and went in, the rest is history. Anyway, good luck my new found Stokie friends, I wish you all the best for the season (unless we meet again in FA Cup) and look forward to seeing you lift the cup…. Up The Owls! Tony A nice summary Tony. I wish I could berate you for your comments on our atmosphere but unfortunately you are spot on! The away atmospheres are still good but it's rare to get a good home one now. Hopefully the semi-final will be one of those rare occurrences...

we were in the west stand block ten by the tunnel, its like a grandads party in there.just thought tonight we be more vocal but to be fair it was a shit one sided game i guess. I blame the ticket office. Surely it wouldn't be so hard to make sure that OAPs are not allowed to sit together. They should be dispersed evenly around the stadium where they won't be noticed (so much).

Sheff Utd fucked up our chances of winning the league, twice and wear our stripes. More than enough reason to hate them. Why are they called pigs? Wendy call United pigs because they claim the red & white shirts look like bacon rashers. United return the compliment because they claim Hillsborough was built on the site of a piggery. But this has been proven to be a myth.

The sky sports guy reckoned the problem was that Sheffield couldn't get any meaningful possession to influence the game.

I think our atmosphere always gets affected for the league cup games. I think alot of it is down to people moving around to other parts of the stadium for these games, and the more popular areas get filled with casual fans either from other parts of the stadium or those who dont always go but choose a game.

I like Wednesday got no beef with em at all. Proper football club. Unfortunately I disagree with S6DTB in as far as football is not cyclical anymore and its getting worse. Last night showed me the difference between prem also rans and championship. The teams relegated from the prem have learnt not to do a Leeds and drop through the leagues aided by experience and finance . The finances are now that any team relegated should immediately bounce back ,if not its poor management. With team relegated next season getting in excess of 100 million pounds its getting close to a gentlemans club consisting of around 22 teams. I don't like it and fortunately we are in it, so those not in the group as from next year will be left trailing bar a miracle.

Nevermind Joao, who the hell was that thing crossed between Tyson Fury and Jon Parkin that they bought on?
He ambled up the wing once and was done for!
Useless!

Where has the atmospbere gone from the Britannia Stadium. Laxt night the Sheffield Wednesdays fans were brilliant you would have thought we were away from home not Sheffield. We only seem to create an atmosphere is when we play a big team. Lets get behind the team and rock the Britannia whoever we play

As they cant write / slag us off as relegation fodder these days they can ignore us as nothing more than a midtable team. As others have said if we win they talk about the losers !
