Wetherspoons says home fans only, but if you don't wear colours should be ok.

Heyup mate - wouldnt bother in town - it can be a bit tasty (where the Weatherspoons is and lots of other 'lads' pubs)
Usually away fans are herded to the local student union at Staffs Uni, its not that far from the ground
Alternatives are the Harvester (across from the ground - 25 yards!) where you can get food if early enough and park, behind the away end is a Powerleague 5 a side type place where away fans are usually welcome, parking on there too, and a little gem of Hem Heath Cricket Club where the ale is good - just wouldnt wear any colours as not sure they officially let away fans in
A bit further out there is a hungry horse type place at the bottom of Sir Stanley Matthews Way, another at the Trentham Hotel (about a mile walk), the Gardeners and Plough not far away on Campbell Road on the outskirts of Stoke
Personally I would get setup at the Powerleague as you can virtually roll out of there into the away end at 2.50pm :-)
Hope you have a good day out and a sound 6-0 thrashing to talk about on the way home ;-) (am sure it will be a turgid 1-0 to either side though!)

Cheers! I had seen to stay clear of the centre, and places like a powerleague and harvester mentioned, which is a bit strange to most away games ive visited before! (Other than Wolves. It was a premier inn or the ground)
Arriving by train about 10.30, so if the Old Bill are up and out early, can always ask them for advice... Just didn't want to spend the morning wondering around hunting for pubs and walking in the 'wrong one'

Taxi up to the powerleague/harvester would cost you about a fiver max

You won't get in anywhere in the town and probably won't be welcome unfortunately but at least you won't get to see the embarrassing state it is in. Your other options would be power league or harvester next to the ground although getting a drink is a long old wait. If I was an away fan visiting the Brit I'd be pretty bored arriving at that time there's not allot to do if I'm being honest.

I will likely head to the uni bar then, cheers!

If your off train early get a taxi int newcastle town centre, it will only be about 6 quid, loads of pubs, places to eat, then taxi to ground at 2 30 no problem.

To be honest I don't think there would be any issues in the town centre but on the other hand I never see any away fans down there on match day which is a shame, Newcastle under Lyme is a good call or stop off at stone if your train stops there that's a nice little town with good ales on. I've many away days and have been welcome in the main high streets or city's but unlike everywhere else Stoke-on-Trent is so spread out with no real bustling city centre that would be ideal for away fans. Enjoy your day out though

Danwfc turn right out of the station and right again down under the bridge follow ur nose and u r at the glebe a really good pub is mainly a home fans pub but most games see a few away fans in there and never any trouble. As long as u don't act the knobhead, which from reading ur posts u don't seem the type, u will have no problems at all. Good ale and food and buses from outside the pub take u straight to the ground. It shits all over the power league and harvester

Power League is not too bad though 4 hrs in one pub would test anyone
For that length of time Newcastle Town centre is by far your best bet - ten minutes in a taxi from the station
Another alternative is Heron Cross with a couple of decent pubs and the Bowling Club is cheap and regularly has away fans - then ten minutes stroll to the ground - just follow the crowd

That's the pub they'll point you to. personally I'd try one in there with food and make my way to the power league near the ground have a good day but hope you go home feeling sick

Remember going to Watford a few years ago , a right old sing song in that Wetherspoons pub in the middle of town. it`s a shame away fans can`t have similar up here.

If you make yourself known to the Coppers I'm fairy sure they'll herd you to a pub called The Terrace just down from the Station (but away from town). Might suit your needs but will be fucking rammed with a sell out allocation. Keep your colours off and there's loads of decent pub in Stoke town.

Ignore some of the replies on here, most of the users on here live their life in front of a keyboard whilst still living with their mum, a loud clap of thunder has them sleeping between mummy and daddy at night and they are in their 30's.
Last match there were loads of Bournemouth floating around the town pubs, got talking to a few in the famous Lion (Georgia Browns now)complete with replica tops, if you do not act a dick, dont get too loud and engage in the conversation you will be fine, yes Stoke do have their fair share of "lads" but the majority are quite decent and would not bother with you unless you are blatantly taking the piss.

I'd also say get a taxi to Newcastle - Berts Belgian Bar, Lymestone Vaults, Bar Social, Museum, Bridge St Real Ale House... some of my favourites.

I was more coming from the angle that you can get knocked back at boozers wearing colours. If you like a nice long, walkabout slurp, why you would wear fucking colours away is beyond me. Plus the law will try and head obvious away fans to the terrace or the harvester. They've already said so.
