Think I spoke to you and your Dad that day, Pete if I recall correctly?
Brilliant away day was that, I ended up going last minute on my own as my usual lot were all busy for one reason or another.
Ended up finding loads of familiar faces though and had a great day out.

Neil Sullivan was doing a passable "Big Nev" impression that day!

That was Delp's debut on loan, I think - and he broke his leg against Sunderland in a midweek game the following Tuesday. I remember when the team against Leeds was announced someone (can't remember who unfortunately) said words to the effect that "the only thing to be decided was how many we would lose by - as he couldn't see where our goals were coming from". It wasn't Benjie - might have been Spiderman though. Nothing changes on this board!

That was the 'takeoff' game for me. Yes. The first time I really believed the good times may be about to roll. The capped maestro working on a relative pittance was starting to put something together.

Four cracking goals too.
Great free kick from Hendrie, bullet header from Danny, snorter from Griff and a beauty from Ric.

Presumably too embarrassed to carry on as spiderman after the constant river of shit that came through his keyboard. The only Stoke fan I can recall that reveled in us losing games of football.

I remember thinking how good our substitute bench was that day. We could afford to leave Dave Brammer on the bench.

Wasn't this shortly after we beat Norwich 5-0 at the Brit? Nah that was a couple of weeks later. Beat Sunderland 2-1 on the Tuesday after where Rory broke his leg.

A call for a 20,000 attendance in The Sentinel, madness. Also, remember this game so clearly, how can it be 9 years!

Ric off he bench, top corner from the edge of the box for the 4th. My Son was 6 years old at the time and still says its one of his best away days ever. It was a turning point, and we haven't looked back since.

Not only memorable for the 4 goals, 50 of us went from the Beehive Penkhull to a pub in Liversedge out of the Good Beer Guide specifically because it was a Timmy Taylor pub. About an hour in I went to the bar for 4 pints of Landlord only to be told they'd run out. It was explained that they sold 12 gallons of TTL a week and we'd drunk 9 in an hour.
Those were the days, we had some good trips in the lower divisions. Doesn't quite seem the same these days.

A couple of weeks before we went away to Wolves and there was a bit of infighting, draw at home to Preston then this little beaut. I went with my sister and we picked up our tickets from their ticket office, as we did we walked past a small lad with his dad asking him why we they had to play rubbish teams like Stoke now, we looked at each other and agreed that was fair. Queue the game it all changed. Fairly certain it was also Rory's debut slotting nicely in on the left wing.

I certainly don't miss having 30 seconds of game highlights a week on sodding ITV that's for sure. I do, however miss Ricardo Fuller.

I remember it for a different reason, i`d had 2 x £3 bets, one was 3-0, and the other 3-1 to stoke. I thought i was well in (£110 i think)even when they had a penalty i wasn`t too worried, but then on come fuller and scored a late 4th goal, i clapped, but not as enthusiastically as everyone else ;-)

I figured out pretty early that the only "natural" bets you can make on stoke are either FT result stoke win, or HT/FT stoke-stoke. Betting on say a 2-1 win and then being 2-0 up and in the back of your mind wanting the other team to score is just so wrong. I consciously try to be less bigoted with my views but I can't understand why every stoke supporter isn't the same as me in this instance especially when there's literally hundreds of other events you could be making scoreline bets on without risking feeling dirty.
