it was absolutly fantastic!! awful game, but that didnt matter.the atmosphere was great, and as soon as we heard of qprs early sending off we knew we were only really playing for 2nd place, which was always in the bag. i wasnt even particularly nervous at any point. with a couple of minutes to go i moved right down to the front for the pitch invasion. i was one of the first on, and managed to get near enough to fuller to give him a hug and help hoist him ontop of the crowd. the atmosphere in the town after was superb too, everyone hugging each other and cheering. i kept getting random stokies slapping me on the back and things cos i was wearing my shirt.
what an achievement for a club like stoke. we have an average wage structure and average attendances for the championship and we have sold £6million pounds worth of players, including 2 captains since jan 2007, yet only spent around 2.5million bringing players in.
all my friends are saying we will do a derby next season. i dont think we will, as the other teams going up (west brom plus one) are not super rich like sunderland and birmingham were in comparison to derby.
we have now entered the bit of football which is slowly ruining the game. the premier league is a very different league to the championship, where money is now the priority, not passion and hard work which this stoke team revolves around. having said that, i still cannot wait for the fixture list and to see how the likes of arsenal and man utd cope with our uncompromising team.
i felt sorry for the leicester fans, having to put up with the jubilation of stoke, with them sat right there. i was amused to see the odd leicester fan stay and watch the scenes. they were just sat there, clearly dejected and in disbelief how a team with far more fans and far more money than stoke could be going down to league one. a classic example of the difference between the prem and the championship. especially this season, the championship was not dictated by the millionnaires, but by the passion and managment skills from teams like stoke, bristol city and hull. look at the prem - the same old story at the top, through the middle and at the bottom, almost entirely due to money.
i guess i will have to try and change my cinicism towards the money in the prem and parachute payments etc, as stoke will certainly be benefitting from it. lets just hope pulis can pull off an even greater miracle than yesterday and keep stoke up, 17th is the new 1st place for us now!

I take it you were one of the bellends who ran on to the pitch before the final whistle then?

no i wasnt, i realised the whistle hadn't gone and so didnt until the final whistle went. it was shocking behavious to see people running on before the whistle, especially as 1 goal would have kept leicester up.
