Good appointment for them, unfortunately. If nothing else, he will keep them up and consolidate.

That's Sunderland staying up then Nothing's certain if you have a poor squad. He might give them a boost but won't last for ever. None of the players are his.

Very true mate but i'm pretty certain myself that they will stay up with his organisation whatever players he's inherited.January may also be important if he doesn't fancy a few of them.Cattermole is an ideal Allardyce player imo also.

Nice couple of games for Samuel to start with.
WBA away and Newcastle home.

Can't decide whether getting WHU promoted or keeping SL up is the bigger challenge for Sam. I suppose we'll find out.
At WHU; he Stopped the slide, cleared the baggage, re-built on (relative) low budget and gave four seasons of stability.
Despite the painful last six months when most knew he was leaving, I couldn't really complain about his tenure. Largely dull and predicable football was worth the pain to gain stability and with better players his football becomes easier on the eye. But he'll always look to not lose, rather than win and reached his sell-by at the end.
A good appointment for Sunderland - who else was in the frame??

The likes of Nigel Pearson, Sean Dyche & Bob Bradley So looking at it from that angle, Big Sam was the best choice to go for

I'm not sure they'll give him the money the Hammers got though. Didn't he make some expensive signings like Carroll and Jarvis. I could see him trying to get Carroll to Sunderland.

Great appointment for Sunderland I think they have got the right man with sam. Ithink he is a good manager and Sunderland have a good chance of staying up now but i think Newcastle will go down

Averages 1.29 points per game over his premier league career 49 points per season , so if hits the ground running that would get them 40 points record slightly worse at west ham so could be tight .

Hopefully both the Mackems and Baggies will go down so we won't have to hear the incessant drivel about their relative managers never being relegated.

Drivel , in that it doesn't fit certain people agendas that they are crap managers. Please tell me where I have said they are crap managers. They are good at what they do. I genuinely feel sorry for supporters who cannot see past 40 points and survival. They will readily accept any old dog shit ambition-less football just to happily see their hero trouser another 7 figure bonus at the expense of supporters who pay hard earned money to watch their team play.

Big Sam did his first press conference, here in the North East today and was on local TV.
He went down very well, seemed very happy and joking that he wouldn't be there if he couldn't do better than the last 7 managers in 9 years. Fans appear to love him (at the moment), and he seems to have a good following wind at least until the end of the January transfer window.

He'll win the Derby, fans will have his face tattooed on their backs, they'll survive this season then sack him next year at the first sign of a struggle.
