Surely the simple solution is an announcement on the tannoy to the fans that, you are being recorded on cctv, anyone caught blocking the aisles will be indentified and banned from the stadium?

Never that simple. If you happened to go to the toilet it is not always possible to get back to your seat. Solutions. Install exits (SAFETY REASONS) at the rear of the stands. Go on Stoke, spend some TV money. Install TV screens in the concourse for the early darters

Would it help the stewards if something like a yellow grid was painted on the bottom steps and around the exit, similar to what you have at road junctions and then prominent signs were erected, stating that there is strictly no standing in those areas?
Then the stewards could tap people on the shoulder who were standing there and simply point to the signs?
I know it's easy to say that people would simply ignore them but I'm not that sure would be the case, especially if it was a copper tapping them on the shoulder.

This is probably related to the traffic problems. A lot of the people towards the front of the queue stand there so they can shoot off at full time and get back to their coach/bus. One of them's a mate of mine who runs one of the coaches, and has to get back to help everyone find the coach. One of the problems with the current coach system is that if a coach is told to leave, it has to, even if it's got passengers missing. This means anyone on a coach really does need to rush to get out, hence the queuing on the stairs before the whistle and climbing over the seats to get out. Now you could just say why don't these people leave earlier, but why should they when they've bought and paid for the match just like everyone else, and are using one of the club's preferred modes of transport?

Now you could just say why don't these people leave earlier, but why should they when they've bought and paid for the match just like everyone else, and are using one of the club's preferred modes of transport? I'm one of the 'everyone else' that bought a season ticket and routinely misses the last five or ten minutes of every match because of the selfish few who stand, sometimes even leaning directly over me so they can see. I now push the ignorant gits firmly away and spread out to push them further away. But more often than not I have to stand and block the view of those behind me which I feel guilty about but other than staring at someones coat for ten minutes, I have to do it.
At the full time whistle the ignorant blocking people suddenly decide they don't want to leave and stand there clapping while I shove them out the way to make my way out. A steward or two should be assigned to every aisle to prevent this happening again but they haven't since the stadium was built so I won't hold my breath
