In all honesty both Afellay and Van Ginkel were very disappointing, they offered us absolutely nothing when they came on. If you think back to the impact Ireland made when he came on at Spurs, then he must feel pretty frustrated at the moment. What are you going on about? The circumstances were totally different and their tasks in each match were the opposite
So you thought Afellay and Van Ginkel played well then?
Hughes didn't bring either of them on to shut up shop.

Affelay got in some good positions but didn't shoot when he had the chance and was caught in possession.

best team won ,no complaints here, to say we were shocking is an understatement, the manager Butland wont have an easier afternoon all season and regardless of the stats we had no drive or direction too many sideways passes, no penetration, in fact no fucking idea at all, you are fast becoming our bogie side and i cant see it changing anytime soon, good luck for the remainder of the season with one exception Fair play. you have some very good players but unfortunately you wont get better till Tim goes. He's a one trick pony who knows how to motivate and shout a lot but has no tactical know how. I don't get your tactics today at all or the team selection. I was very pleased when I saw Gil, Grealish and Sanchez on the bench. Why was he playing a back 5?

I complain as much as I want to when complaining is warranted Affelay should never have taken the shot from such a distance with his team defending an incredibly precious 1-0 away win And before he should have crossed to an unmarked walters not taken the shot himself His egoism put us under pressure needlessly I side for stoke city not for any player If you're unable to understand that you go and fuck off yourself You complain at bloody everything!! A right Victor Meldrew. I applauded Charlie for his fantastic effort I applauded arniie I applauded Johnson for his fantastic pass to Arnie for the goal So I don't just complain But if I see a player putting his own petty interests ahead of the team I get furious as hell

To be honest you lot go more wide than Arsenal without the penetration or runs... What is your manager thinking leaving Gil off? Decent player there.

I'm not normally one for heat maps but check out the average positions on the link below. Stoke's is nice and compact, full of discipline (Is that ok with you, Danny?) Check Villa's out! www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34366599

Not sure about afellay got to give our Swiss friend a little more time and I would play Walters to start up front for first half. Is he okay to play, if he is Shaqiri would be straight in, with Walters up front as you suggest. Shame not, but hey result done great day great stuff, we are now on the move well done Arnie.

Warnock was saying Villa needed to be careful from our set pieces on BT this morning. Thanks TP the legacy lives on!

Nah. I don't think the linesman is even aware that Crespo is there. TBH mate, whatever he thinks that freeze-frame to me looks like Arnie is just off. Either way it's fookin close. Just a shame some superb footie didn't get the reward it deserved. IMO I think the linesman should reward good attacking play by mentally moving the defender a yard further back and giving the attackers a bit more "benefit of the doubt".... Trouble with the freeze frame is the ball has already left the passers foot, so Arnie would have moved slightly forward in that instance, not a terrible decision but I think the linesman has guessed IMO.

Of course he has! But he has to guess, that's the point. He cannot look simultaneously in two places at once so he has to make a judgement call. I genuinely don't know if he's right or wrong, it's really hard to tell even from a freeze frame. As I said, sometimes they go in your favour sometimes they don't.

Great win today, albeit against a very poor Villa team. Arnie has to \be worth 15 million after that performance, shame he cant rest for a week now.
Overall a mid table finish as i see it, worried about Joselu, Bojan, Affeley, and even Shaqiri, they are not up to pace whatsoever.
