I used to play so much that I got 'Subbuteo knee' from kneeling on the floor. Doctor thought it was 'Housemaids knee' It was my first footballing injury, and I still get a reoccurrence 50 years later. Ive still got my team, crudely painted in SCFC stripes. Fantastic game, stick your FIFA up your arse.

Yes. I hold a tournament annually and have done this since i were 7 years old. Its called 'the tournament' . Each year Trevor, Keith , Alan and i battle it out to become number 1. Trevor is good as he has a fantastic flick on him but i play the tatical game a measured precised based in accuracy. Its a close call though and can get a rowdy i tell you.

Having that would have prevented many an argument between me and my mate Ecker about who had to be the other team. Stoke vs Stoke Reserves would have been the order of the day. What teams did people ascribe to the standard sets that came with the box? i seem to recall Everton and Manchester Untied for me (in those days, Manure didn't mess around with black shorts, etc.).

My men were cardboard so they got injured pretty quickly and were all bent.
My two teams were Wolves and (wait for it - Port Vale - well black and white anyway !) My Dad said he couldn't get Stoke. Never thought to paint them.

used to love it!! plus test match cricket! Great times. I remember getting the World Cup edition one Xmas. Great days. It had floodlights a press box and a stretcher bearer plus 3 teams. I remember having the Brazil team, Scotland and England and hibs. Also the corner kickers and throw in players but didn't find them very easy to use. I had Freddie truemans test match which was a great game till I sat on the bowlers slide. He lost his pace after that.

used to love it!! plus test match cricket! Cricket - never saw a subbuteo version of that. We used to play cricket with two hexagonal metal barrels, one had numbers on it and one had umpires decisions, came in a little tine box - played it for hours. Was going to ask if anyone remembered what it was called but it just came to me - OWZAT !!

Once took a penalty against my valeite cousin that the keeper saved but snapped him off his stand and rolled in, my cousin looked me straight in the eye and holding back the tears said i had just killed musslewhite , i burst into an uncontrollable fit of laughter lent him a keeper to continue the thrashing i gave him while his little brother tried to comfort him at the loss. Stoke 6 vale 1 Stein 3 Regis 2 Overson 1 Amazing how a table top game can hold in the memory for so long but i cant remember anything memorable about a game of fifa 16 this morning unless i record it

Suppose you could have called us "Blurton Aspirational" - we bought a telly for the Coronation !! I didn't have a proper Davy Crocket hat though - my Gran made me one out of an old scarf so it wasn't all silver spoon

The one outstanding Subbuteo memory I have is when I had a last minute free kick to win a best of 3 series. My mate Mart had a 6 man wall and one player on the post. Took us both 5 minutes to line everything up.
I knew I had to flick the outside of the player to give the ball enough spin to reach the goal. Then I had a rush of blood and put my finger right through the player.
Bloody ball bashed through the top of the wall, deflected down, hit the player on the post and past the keeper! Mart was on the floor, stunned while i ran around the house having a major mental!!
FIFA can't get close to that!!

Used to love playing against my dad under the floodlights and used to make stands out of old shoe boxes and then spend hours drawing little heads and scarves for the crowd.
Thinking about it I have always been a little odd!
