Why can't it be piped through the seats to speakers or headphones?

Why can't it be piped through the seats to speakers or headphones? Something to do with interference with the heated seat elements....well that's what they told us in the john smiths.

I'm in block 29 and it was far too loud. Impossible to chat to people next to me unless we shouted. I say get rid of it altogether so we can start to generate a decent atmosphere. Is it so loud because of the Taylor Report or some other legislation does anyone know?

Still too bloody loud
Don't they want people to be able to talk to one another before the game in case we start discussing filling in the corners?

Block 11 it was deafening. I know its small thing but I don't look forward to going at minute it wrecks my ears. Pre match I had to put my fingers in my ears.
SORT IT OUT STOKE!!

Too quiet in the south stand, turn it up. Louder the better for me.

I'm actually quite impressed with the new PA system - I could actually understand what people were saying. However it is far too loud in block 23 row 23 of the Boothen.
I've written to Angela Smith of the SCSC - lets see if she can get the club to turn it down a bit.
If the club doesn't agree, I'm willing to swap seats with Tony Scholes for the Swansea game so he can experience the risk to his ear drums for himself.

Block 12 and it's a distorted deafening din. Piss poor but to be expected from a club who couldn't give a toss.

The scoreboard is a total embarrassment. Incorrect names and not in sync with the bloke on the pitch. Why does he have to be on the pitch? Also, why are there no highlights of the first half at half time? Second rate Stoke. And people say Scholes is doing a great job. What highlights, Southampton out playing us?

Some aspects of the clubs PR on match day are beyond amatuerish first and foremost -- WE ARE NOT FUCKING DEAF Second, minor has beens on the pitch talking shit - (Iwelumo hardly set the world on fire did he ?) No one is Fucking interested
if hes commentating for some local outlying village radio station the scoreboard might as well not exist for what use it is - 'happy birthday to total strangers at HT' - yes - magnificent is that I really enjoy looking at pictures of total fucking strangers at half time rather than - the other scores I'm actually interested in and the fucking corners still haven't been filled in And so Im not so worried about on the pitch matchday wise as, off it - plainly, run by the totally fucking clueless the pre match deafening dirge the very latest in total and utter dumb ass stupidity oh ! and and the fucking corners still haven't been filled in Ps SOME PEOPLE WALKED AROUND THE PITCH AT HALF TIME - WHO THE FUCK WERE THEY ? - WHY WERE THEY WALKING AROUND ? Since he retired Wilko spends more time on the fucking pitch than when he was playing.

Maybe it depends where you sit. We were in the MP stand lower, and was very clear....

The original post on this subject was in September 2015. Why has it come up again now? Sorry, I floated it back to the top because I'm fed up of having my ears destroyed by stupidly loud music. I'm in no doubt that the announcements are now clearer, which I have no problem with but the volume that the music is played is ridiculous imo and serves no purpose other than to kill conversation and stop any atmosphere building before the game. Harking back to the old days at The Vic, I remember that the vocal jousting between the home and away fans before the game could be electric. You're now hard pressed to hear yourself think.

With you all the way there. We make the effort of getting in late most of time because I can't hear my father in law next to me, nor he without me shouting. But occasions like Saturday where we're a bit early (until we retreated to the concourse)- it was fucking insufferable. It's louder than it's ever been since they've fucked about with that new sound system. TURN IT FUCKING DOWN

Agree with that, loud and distorting. If that was the new £400K system, it has not been money well spent, unless, of course, it's a matter of set up. Whatever system it was, it certainly wasn't very impressive yesterday. Oh dear. Depends on what hardware they actually got for their £400K? The theory with PA's is it's better to run a powerful system at half capacity than run any system flat out, that's what causes distortion. Also, I imagine it's almost impossible to sound check/equalise the system in a cavernous great space with three open corners which, when used on match days, holds tens of thousands bodies soaking up the sound.
That said, one would presume the venders/installers have done this before? (Although nothing would surprise me at Stoke )

As any foo know, or at least, anyone that has been given the job to 'turn it up' for the gathered masses will tell you, it's not as simple as 'turning it up'. One suspects Stoke's match day experience team think that it is as simple as 'turning it up'.

Could hear it as clear as anything outside the ground on the road, though I'm sure that's not the desired effect they had in mind.
