A good result, and more importantly a good injury free performance is good for morale both on and off the pitch, teams like to win, and a win boosts confidence, just like a loss destroys confidence, I can see a 3 match winning streak coming up....Goooooaaaaarrrrrn Stoke.

There are plenty of reasons why I want to do well in cup games.
# Best chance a club like ours has of winning silverware
# With 25 man squads it gives us the chance to give game time to players who are not featuring regularly or who are returning after an injury lay off.
# It gives the manager the chance to try players out in differing positions to the ones they usually play. For example, I'd like to see Cameron and/or Muniesa given a chance in midfield sometime. Realistically, that experiment (if it is tried at all) will be tried first in a cup game.
# A win in a cup game can only help player confidence - and, with no league wins yet, some of our players will be short on confidence at the moment.

will any youngsters be on the bench? moha? shenton? Think the U21s have a game tonight so I'm guessing the team selection there will give us a few clues.

I hope he doesn't start any of our starting 11, we cant risk it! We need full focus for Bournemouth on Saturday!

Quite the opposite.
The team need gelling, they can only gel with games, and games without the pressure of league points at stake will be very helpful.

Respect the supporters who are paying and travelling to watch, it's the cup. A chance to put this crappy winless run to bed. Strong side please and a good attitude. Players don't need a rest they need to get that confidence back that only goals and winning games can provide. Stick it to em Hughes.

I think Hughes should start a fairly strong team against Fulham. Maybe not the same team as Saturday, but the best thing for morale right now, would be to give Fulham a good kicking. Not saying that's going to happen, Luton proved that's far from straight forward, but if we start well there's no reason we can't.

Totally agree these players need to play together all the time to gel.....in the seventies on the boggy grounds we played non stop saturday wednesday saturday with the same team, todays team can't play 2 halves in a game , never mind 3 games a week

If we're going to have a relatively mediocre season in the League, which looks a possibility, doesn't the Cup take on extra importance. There needs to be some changes but I'd go fairly strong. Summat like;
Given Bardsley Wilson Muniesa Pieters Whelan Afellay Ireland Sahqiri Arnautovic Joselu

I'd have thought that Sidwell would be able to raise his game against his old team. I'd play him and certainly Joselu and Afellay.

Fulham are not an amazing outfit by any stretch of the imagination but can always be dangerous at Craven Cottage. I`d play a strong side, a full strength (if you can call it that) back 4 and rotate the front men, we have the squad for that.

I would not play Bardsley at all! A liability. Given, Johnson Cameron Woolsheid Muniesa Affelay Bojan Whelan Ireland Joselu Arnie Shaqiri Most teams we have played this season have 11 plus the ref! So why not? Or else I started on the wine too early yesterday!

I'd love us to have a good cup run but right now, after such a poor start to the season, we need the first XI to be fit, rested and raring to go for the game on Saturday. I'd be reluctant to pick many of those we intend to start at the weekend for the Fulham game.
Given
Bardsley Wollscheid Muniesa Moseley
Sidwell Cameron
Odemwingie Ireland Afellay
Joselu

I'd only leave Butland, Johnson and Bojan out of the team that started on Saturday and possibly Arnie and Pieters if they are carrying knocks from the weekend.
The rest, in my opinion, need games.
Given Cameron, Wilson, Wolschied/Muniesa (whoever he thinks to go with on Saturday), Pieters (Muniesa if he's injured) Whelan, MVG Shaqiri, Ireland, Affellay/Arnie Walters
There is that balance in that defeat could further erode confidence but a win could kick start our season.
