We've only not used the third sub once this season and that was on Saturday (although at Spurs we brought Arnie off after 89 minutes).
I'm not sure what a third sub could've achieved at the weekend, considering who was available.

Can't comment on this season as I've only seen the opener v Liverpool, but last season I'd imagine Hughes must have been reluctant to use the third sub tactically until very near the end of a match for fear of the team going down to 10 men shortly after. We had so many players like Moses, Ireland, Pieters, Muniesa and Bardsley who you couldn't count on to get through 90 minutes, that making a third substitution (other than when this was forced on us by injury) was, for the most part, a luxury we couldn't take advantage of.

Any substitution after 75 mins {other than for injury} is just a mercy fuck. Unless you're bringing Assaidi on.

Has to be injury. We've been riddled with them over the last 12 months so I assume he plays it safe.

maybe its because he fears it be a omen if he puts the 3rd out

Yes. He's into omens and stuff. I think he's vegetarian and teetotal these days as well. I understand he drinks herbal tea. And has a marble island in his kitchen. On it is a marble pestle and mortar. The pestle is black marble but the work surface top is white. From what I glean of him, everything is ying and Yong. he used to have dream catchers but he git rid of those in the 90s when they became to gimmicky. But he's definitely into Feng shui and water features. It doesn't affect team selection too much but due yo omens he won't start certain players on certain days if they have a purple or turquoise aura. This clashes with most of our players who have a red aura. 3rd sub is somehow a green aura, mostly to be avoided

Before Saturday the last time we didn't use all three subs was on 21 March against Palace.
In 2015 Hughes has made 63 substitutions out of a possible 72 in the league.

before the second goal he could of put crouch on Would that have made a huge difference? Nope since it's unlikely he would have got the ball based our crossing and passing percentage
