After today's performance I think the 'old Stoke' of getting stuck in when the going gets tough has finally gone. After another weak performance there doesn't seem the fight there that was the backbone of our game. I'm not dooming and glooming and I think we'll be ok this season after a slow start, it's just an observation that makes feel a bit disappointed.

Agree about our shortage of toughies, which is why I was so disappointed to miss out on Janacek.
The Palace player would also have been good captain material, right now when we need it. Our only fit applicant for the job unfortunately stands between the goalposts, which is not ideal.

Did we have no fight when we were two goals down in the 78th minute away at Spurs?

The performance with 9 men shows that these boys can roll their sleeves up if it's needed.

Don't get this. I remember going every away match for the first two years after promotion. I gave up in the end as I was fed up of going every ground and having our bellies tickled. Fight my arse.

So Spurs had a few chances and so did we. We could of been a few up. Spurs were the better team for an hour, big deal, they've spent 100's of millions on footballers and were on their own patch. Last half an hour we were brilliant and deserved what we got.

No Shawcross or N'Zonzi, 2 absolute colossus. Correctamundo. Not having Ryan is unlucky, not having a suitable N'Zonzi replacement is bordering on negligence.

Yes your right, but I'm not comparing amounts spent, ok they've spent ridiculous amounts but our defence has looked very weak, now I'm not a knicker wetter but, LMH needs to sort it out. Jack Butland has been our saviour so far, the saves he pulled of against Spurs and Norwich. JB got us those 2 points.

If Hughes thinks he was OK with MvG as a replacement then he needs his head wobbling. If he was after better but the club wouldn't back him or couldn't get deals done then it's the transfer team. I think they are all culpable. A poor window AGAIN.

We stopped packing our own half with hoofers and are now actually trying to play decent football instead of kicking any footballing talent out of our opposition
Our "fight" tactics were a grey area, not against the rules but not exactly right, from a fans perspective it was fucking boring, from the clubs perspective it was stability
We lost a big part of our new style when Zonz decided he fancied some Paella, V Ginkel and Whelan are barely able to cover N'zonzi's defensive role, let alone his driving forward and distribution

It's not about hoofing and kicking the crap out of the opposition, I didn't see any fighting effort to take back the possession after short weak passes, wheelan and peiters put effort in but it doesn't appear to be a team spirit affair anymore.

I loved the way in which the old stoke used to give Arsenal a game on their own patch. Our 4-1, 3-0, 2-0,1-0 and 3-1 defeats there are right up there with my best days supporting Stoke. The fight we showed in one particular night fixture, with Wilson and Pugh at full back was a particular delight. Our best performance and result at Arsenal came when the game was postponed due to heavy snowfall. The fight tony pulis and his team showed that day to actually get home in one piece was what being old stoke was all about. If only we had more visionaries like you posting on thus forum, the oatcake would be a much better place.

I can't believe people who don't rate N'Zonzi. He carried us at times last season and his absence is showing now. Hughes should have been given adequate money to get a replacement for him and we will pay for the lack of investment.

Complete and utter bollocks. Time for bed folks. Obviously past yours I think it's very sad that we have supporters that can't take the disappointment of a poor performance of a team that is gelling together, away at a Top 4 side, without the need to spout bullshit about a side that has already displayed the characteristics that they are being accused of lacking.

You're ignoring us coming back from two down against last year's fifth placed team and the effort with nine men against West Brom.
