Great assessment from Hughes. Now needs to back the words with action. Next two games are must wins or we get into the habit of losing and it's hard to get out of. Needs to show some balls and leave out non performers, starting with Rip Van Winkle.

He's acknowledged how shit we are at the moment, now it's time for him to show us all the brain that guided us to the top half of the table.
I'm not happy clapping but the boys need us for these next two games, they don't need knives in the back.

We have to be better in terms of our defensive work, yes Mr Hughes we do but you missed that window called the transfer market to do so

I don't often criticise Mark Hughes, but he should have seen this coming with the defenders at our disposal, especially without Ryan. You could not trust one of these lads at this moment in time. It was and is obvious to anyone with a nose on their face.

Dont understand his team selection:
In the past he has chosen 3 energetic midfielders for these sort of games, as in Whelen in front of the back four and Walters/Nzonzi type players flanking him if you will - box to box type players
Today we had Whelan and a bunch of luxury players away at Arsenal - beggars belief.
His team, as he put it, might not have been good enough today, but his management & team selection was extremely poor.
I have heard rumours that Hughes is duty bound to start with both Shaqiri & VG if fit as in it is written in their contracts. I have know idea if this true or not, but if true we are fecked in away games as both are a waste of space on our travels, it is like playing with 9 men

The biggest issue is midfield - their is no one taking responsibility or showing leadership. Charlie was a dick against West Brom, but he will have a big part to play this season if we are to stay up.

Do not believe for one second that any iof our players have it in their contract to maintain a place in the team!

He is going to need to hang tough in the next difficult few weeks.

It's good you've given Shaqiri two whole away games before writing him off. we'd be better off with Average Jon Walters instead, we heard the same rubbish about Arnie and Bojan when will people learn.

It's good you've given Shaqiri two whole away games before writing him off. we'd be better off with Average Jon Walters instead, we heard the same rubbish about Arnie and Bojan when will people learn. I may have been dreaming but I am sure it has been mentioned on here about both players being guaranteed a start - both have started every game so maybe I not dreaming - maybe somebody can clear this up. Cant remember saying I have written off Shaqiri, but I think I am correct in saying that the Brady guy(Norwich) created a premier league record in terms of goal scoring chances against Stoke, which came down the Shaqiri side of the park, tracking back, in away games in particular, is something he going to have to get used to, 12 million or not - at the moment he is a liability in away games, particularly in midfield that is just not performing or just plain competing actually. Therefore, for me, yes I would have dropped him for this game and yes definitely played the average Walters and Cam in mid. I seem to remember Bojan being bled into the team very gradually and it worked fine, we should be doing the same with Shaqiri until he gets up-to-speed with all things prem league

He was never going to play so we sold him and replaced him with a younger CB. a younger CB who is so utterly hopeless that with out main CB out injured for a long time the Gaffer still prefers to play two players out of position rather than risking him
Wow what a replacement !!!
I'm not part of the 'we should have kept Huth' brigade but if it comes to a relegation scrap I'd rather have the Iron German rather than the pansy arms-all-over-the-place one !!

Of course it doesn't help if you play 4 so-so mid-field players against one of the best 5 in the league.

I can't believe LMH is looking at Shaq and thinking - that's £12M well spent. Same goes for Joselu (not the £12M obviously).
Both players look like they haven't a clue what they are supposed to be doing in our team shape.

Mmmm.....What I find so very alarming is that if you go back to last season you will hear him say much of the same kind of thing. In fact last season he said on quite a few occasions that we had weaknesses in defence. Armed with this knowledge I hoped these weaknesses would be addressed. We sold Huthy (Ridiculous!) and he's known Ryan would be out for months, signed Wolf SHITE and clearly doesn't fancy him and has done sweet fa about the weaknesses that we had last year and still have this year. For all the big signings at the other end of the pitch you still need strength, guts and determination at the back and I'm afraid we look absolutely woeful and weak and against Arsenal......the irony.......
