Tex still has age on his side but needs to get some regular game time. Crewe are reputedly struggling defensively and maybe, a short term loan there until January would be good all round. Regular game time for Tex, opportunity to keep an eye on him just up the road and help for our close neighbours. Then, if it works out, maybe a second half season loan to a Championship club. Maybe he'll make it, maybe he won't but until he plays regularly we'll never know.

The first time I saw Tex play, was in the under 21 side, was towards the end of last season. I must admit he was poor but I think he was coming back from injury. I've seen him a couple of times so far this season, once in Cologne and since at the Brit and to be quite honest I think he has potential. Tex and Wolly are different types of players to the ones we've been used to. They are not, and can't just be stoppers (as we used to call them) defenders must be able to pass or bring the ball out of defence to keep possesion and start attacking moves. The days of lumping it up field and hoping for the best have gone. Both of these players are better at passing the ball than either Shawcross or Huth Tex and Wolly have got to learn from Shawcross, and Shawcross has go to learn them. Every player has got room for improvement, we'll see if it happens. I'm in the pre-season means fuck all camp. Tex had been back in training for some time before the 21's games I think and he was bloody awful. The rumours are he's a bit of a joke figure at the club too. No Tex isn't. I don't think he's good on the ball and I think Shawcross is excellent on the ball. Both have one thing in common, they're just plain awful. I wouldn't say Tex and Wolly were awful and I wouldn't say that Shawcross was excellent on the ball. We have different opinions. How do we judge players if they are not playing in the first team? We have to judge them on pre season games or under 21 games

U-21 games yes, they have a meaning for the lads that are playing them in. Pre-season games no. They mean naff all, a fitness exercise. Especially when we lose them, you can't have it both ways.

Koln, I don't think Koln treated this particular game as just a pre season friendly it was a competitive match. It's just my opinion but I thought Koln were a very good side and Tex wasn't awful.

It was a pre-season nothing competition, like I said I'm firmly in the pre-season means fuck all camp. Performances and results, not having any of it!

More U21 appearances? A loan? or can you feature in the Cups if you'e not Prem squad registered? Yes, he can play in the cups.
