This was before my time and its the first i've heard that we played at vale park for one of our games. Im guessing it was because the butler street roof was blown down?

Chester didn't have a ground. 90/91 it was a 1-1 draw. 91/92 it was a 0-0 draw. 92/93 we played them at their own Deva Stadium and it was a 1-1 draw.

Off the train and went in a pretty big pub and me and my mate were the only ones in there. We sat in the middle of this big pub just me and him and the barworker came and asked me totake my Stoke badge off because it might provoke trouble. Trouble who with??

Pisser :-) I remember the Chester fans moaning after the game. It was the days when away fans were kept in at the final whistle for 20 minutes or whatever. The police decided it would be best to keep the Chester fans in and let us go first :-)

17th January 1976 Stoke City (0) 1 Middlesboro (0) 0 Moores 87 Attendance 21,009 (at Vale Park) Stoke City: Shilton, Dodd, Pejic, Mahoney, Smith, Bloor, Robertson, Greenhoff, Moores, Hudson, Salmons (Lumsden) Middlesboro: Platt, Craggs, Cooper, Souness, Boam, Maddren, Brine, Spraggon, Willey, Hickton, Amstrong Moores steered home Boam's weak back pass after earlier having one ruled out. Mike Pejic taken to hospital at half time with a stomach upset. Shilton tipped round Maddren's bullet header. Must admit I don't remember Graeme Souness playing, I guess he wasn't such a big deal in his pre Liverpool incarnation. I was there too on that fateful day, but I seem to remember Souness scoring a 20 yard screamer in front of the Boothen around that time, maybe the season before or after, part of the reason Liverpool signed him. One of the most complete midfield players I have ever seen. In fairness Souness would be exactly the kind of hard as nails yet extravagantly talented midfield player we could do with right now !

Come on Joe you are one of this board's memory men that I was referring to earlier, I expect the name of the pub, the brewery concerned and what flavour crisps they offered for sale not just a vague " a pretty big pub"
