was moses really that good? He was rarely fit to play Yes he was, I'd rather have him than any of the wingers we have been linked with even Shaqiri. You are not giving Shaqiri any leeway to build his fitness up!?

Whatever the starting 11 is it needs to start to come together real fast. Its amazing to me that so much alleged talent produces so little. 4 matches in and we have exactly 2 Diouf headers and a soft penalty to show for it all. one diouf header and an accident

Assuming Ryan is not going to be available for a good part of the season and assuming also that Bojan will soon be fully fit I'd go like this - But land Johnson Cameron Muniesa Pieters Whelan Van ginkel Shaqiri Bojan Arnie Diouf This, with Given, Walters, Crouch, Wilson, Wollscheid, and Ireland to make up the bench

The others I agree. Eliminate wollscheid and insert affelay - he's not as bad as wolly even though I don't want him in the starting XI

Weaker at the moment. Not sure that we will see a lot of Shawcross this season and it will take time for some of the new players to integrate into the team and/or get used to the Premiership.

No doubt we are weaker than last year also taking into consideration how the teams around us have strengthened

Id say we are probably marginally weaker, with the loss off shawcross included in that. But as said above teams around us have strengthened massivley.
Crystal palace Swansea West ham Newcastle Even leicster
I fear we will finish 14th

We have a stronger first XI now when all fit, but a couple of crucial injuries could leave us plugging square pegs into round holes, and crossing our fingers! But better placed than last season to address this surely, losing Palacios not a major issue

He was rarely fit to play Yes he was, I'd rather have him than any of the wingers we have been linked with even Shaqiri. he played 17 games, finished about half, scored 3, one a penalty, and 3 assists and cost us a couple of goals not tracking backā¦its a myth that he was a core part of our team last year. Shaq has 1 assist in 2 games so far

No doubt we are weaker than last year also taking into consideration how the teams around us have strengthened stronger in goal after a poor season from Bego, stronger at right back, a better partner for Shawcross with a fit Muni, stronger up front with Diouf now a season in and Shaq added. Likely we will get more than 14 games form Bojan sos tronger in attacking midfield. Weaker due to loss of N'Zonzi in central midfield but not as much as people think, like Moses, N'Zonzi'z contributions in terms of goals and assists were very low, 6 goals and 5 assists in over a 100 games

Shaqiri,on the first two games that I have seen him, doesn't seem to have the pace I thought he would have. He doesn't appear to be as fast as Moses. He appeared to rely more on close control and I certainly think he was trying to hard,if anything, against W Brom. As ever, time will tell.

Butland Johnson Ryan (fit) Muniesa Pieters Whelan MVG (come good) Shaq Bojan Arnie (on form) Diouf Is a dream team. The best I've known in 25 years by miles and miles and miles I agree. The best squad since the 70s. The pieces of the jigsaw are better, but they still have to be put in place to create the potential team.

Thankfully the distraction of the transfer window is over. Any starting 11 will look weaker at this stage of the season until it blends into a starting team. That process started against the baggies when we went down to nine men but instead of heads going down, the players rolled up their sleaves and supported eaich other. You can't train that sort of reaction only circumstances create it. It's the old forming, storming, norming, performing concept in action. Sharing adversity creates great team spirit. The future is bright.

For me its quite simple
On current showing/potential
Butland Johnson Wilson muni erik Whelan Cameron Arnie bojan shaq Diouf
When fit and considering that mvg improves
Butland Johnson Ryan muni erik Whelan mvg Arnie bojan shaq Diouf
I think at the moment Cameron in midfield would make us more solid, mvg is a better player but not in that role at present for me, he needs time.

I think Shaq is quick over 5 yard distances, he is never going to be flat out coruscating quick chasing long through balls though, his legs are just too short.

Probably going to get some stick for this but I feel that we really miss N'Zonzi (or someone as good as him) in the CM. MVG doesn't inspire me with confidence at all. I also think that not getting in a LW as good as Moses isn't too good either. Overall I think the team of last season had more balance to it, but I guess we're slowly working towards amending that as the team gels.
Had a quick look at Zonz and it seems he got a red on his debut so not the best start for him. I did wonder what the odds would be of us signing him back (in Jan) if for some reason he has a stinker of a first 6 months but then saw that he has a 30m EUR buy out clause.
