Cant believe how many 'sheep' we have bleating on about how brilliant, solid Jedinak is...I think he's naff if truth be told. A more refined Cattermole...surely we can do better than this ...... Also have not yet seen 2 of the usual responses - If he's not good enough for (insert current team), he's not good enough for us If he's that good why haven't other teams been in for him?

Is Jedinak as good as people are saying he is? I have not heard any real "hoo haa" about him to be fair. Mind you I never realised how well NZonzi was viewed by other fans before he left..

@reluctantnicko: Late enough not to get nicked. Stoke are closing in on Mile Jedinak. Ideal replacement for Nzonzi. Crystal Palace moving out a few. How does the 'shrewdest signing of the window' lead us to Jedinak?

SLP saying that it is a different signing. So it should be a double signing.
Nothing's confirmed though. I'm afraid we'll have to wait until tomorrow.

No ones saying he's a brilliant footballer he isn't but he's what we need to give us a bit of what we're missing. Leadership, good at doing the dirty work. The problem at the moment is we don't have balance. Too many footballers and not enough fighters. Didn't realise he was injured though which isn't great as we need him now.

You've got to take Nixon's opinion on players with a pinch of salt. If I remember rightly, he never rated Nzonzi. And the fact he describes Jedinak as the perfect replacement for him illustrates he hasn't got a clue on what type of player he was.
Jedinak is an ok squad addition to provide back up for Glenn and add steel when needed. He's nothing like a replacement for Zonz.
We are worryingly building up a collection of old players not good enough for first 11. We need to shift some.

Why did we not just splash out on a adequate nzonzi replacement earlier on in the window, saving a loan for MVG which we could've then brought Moses in.
Going for the cheap option with MVG has forced us to go back into the market and pick up what's left , a 31 year old who plays for a team below us who don't want him...

Just for the record Palace are 7 points and 16 places above us. It's not hugely thrilling I agree but he could bring with him the saltier degree of manliness we are so clearly missing.

Well this is either the end of Afellay as a CM or Sidwell is going. Personally I hope we don't see Aff in the middle again. He'll probably be seen purely as a winger now if Walters leaves although again id be busting a gut to bring Moses in rather than turn to Aff
Jedinak and Whelan is a solid base especially whilst Shawcross is out injured, I can see why it's seen as shrewd. Wonder where this leaves MVG in the medium term.
This probably brings more questions than answers but I'm certainly expecting a busy day.
Oh and SLP on the ball again... Not

Not Afellay is no winger though is he? He's got no discernible assets we need out there ie pace! And for the last 2/3 years he's been playing centrally for club and country when not injured.

From what I've seen so far this season id sooner have him on the wing than in the middle. He's quicker and more skilful than Walters but with less fight. Without wanting to write anyone off early he looks a poor signing. We've got the money to go hard for Moses and I'd certainly be looking to blow WHU out of the water for him, we desperately need pace as you rightly point out.

He's shown no pace and no ability to beat a man. He might be quicker than Walters (not sure he is tbh) but he looks deadly slow to me. All his touches and things he does scream #10 to me. We do need pace, can't see it arriving.

For me I'm happier seeing him out there than I am alongside MVG in the middle. I'm also happier seeing him on the bench when everyone is fully fit.

Signed as a left winger, only played in the middle to get fitness up.
