How do you know what other peoples lives have been like? Perhaps, because of your experiences, you should be fighting for a better future for the kids/old/disabled/sick of today instead of the "I put up with it so should you" attitude Actually im in full agreement with you. If youve had a shit upbringing then as you say, you should fight to make sure others dont have to.

Ian Duncan Smith is an inadequate, he has failed at most things he has done, he as over inflated his qualifications, experiences and intelligence, he has now found a section of society he can blame for all the countries ills and he will persecute them until it rids him of his demons...... Remind you of anyone? Idi Amin? Duncan Norville

Oh well, at least the money taken from the indigenous sick is being given to fit, young men capable of travelling thousands of miles.

I was told I'm fit for work by ATOS , my doctor says I'm not and he is not prepared to sign me off the club as he may be held accountable If I (have problems)
They stopped my scrounging £8 a week benefits and now my wife totally keeps me I get not one penny.
They stopped my Dental care despite having lost all my teeth during and because of my illness. They stopped my Optical care as well I now have to pay for both (well I actually can't pay so I no longer have either)
I get my prescription because I would be dead without it and thus it is a human rights thing.
I worked from the age of 16 until I was 44 mostly on 9 different pot banks piece work. when my health became an issue I went back to college and retrained as an office manager and later became Technical Support for a PC company.
I never had a day on the club in all my working life.
If I am a scrounger then please just shoot me because the loss of dignity and self worth are making me ... well you can guess.
One day is all I ask , one day to explain to Ian Duncan Smith what he and his cronies have done to me.
Bet he or ANY Tory has not got the balls to stand in front of me and tell me I'm a scrounger.
7 timed redundant never a day unemployed and the twats make me a beggar. thanks guys.

Remember Work Capability Assessment was introduced by Labour.
Also since April 1 this year ATOS were replaced by Maximus.
Why is this important. It's that old theory v practice problem. The principle behind WCA is well accepted by the major political parties - but finding a satisfactory way to address the principle has been beyond both parties to date.
Of course the reality is people get harmed - but the harm is not just Riv's experience (which is sadly not unique) but also goes in the opposite way where people become "institutionalised" sick - "a generation case aside" to sort of misquote Christy Moore.
We've dug a hole for ourselves as a society and don't know how to climb out of it!

"But best of all..I married a member of the Aristocracy" says IDS. As my old man used to say "You've got no brains..looks..or money..so get your cock in the till, son". Inherited Wealth..You can't fucking beat it. And it attracts societies detritus..like flies round dogshit. They love that smell. They just can't get enough of it. Shit by association :-D

Indeed.
Shit by association . Inherited wealth ....Capital gains tax , Inheritance Tax , Marrying into money etc etc ...
It's a professional occupation in itself ....It can give you a heart attack just thinking about it .
What's less well publicised is the unhappiness . Many regard being wealthy as being happy , but this in my experience is rarely the case .
I think that most people are money motivated and materialistic . They thrive on new clothes , cars , designer apparel and all things nice .
Once you take money and ego out of the equation , then life becomes far more relaxed and pleasant . I know several millionaires and I know several on the dole .
I'm going fishing at the weekend with one of each . The common denominator is me . I introduced my two close friends several years ago and they are now best mates . Neither would have given the other the time of day previous to my introduction . It's all about what you want from life . We take turns with the transport ...one week it's the dog van , the next it's a 12 year old Mondeo and this week it's a Porche Cayenne 65 Reg . We all have a great day out on the Dove and take the piss out of one another , but money is never mentioned or our status in society .
Life is too short to be worrying and getting jealous over money . Our local golf club has seen more than its fair share of divorces and bankrupcies through people over exerting their wallets to keep up with the Jones's ...
I laugh at the bragging rights and condescending tactics employed by some on here. They seem to think that by employing such tactics is a game changer ....a victory .!
Well not in my world . Concentrate on the important stuff ...a 12 lb Barbel for starters ....!

You end up queuing for clothes and food vouchers and digging out coal where Goldenhill Golf club now stands .... You apply for a death grant to bury your father because your mother is too ill in hospital to attend ... That's what you do .....but the important bit is that you never forget ..... ....and you take no lectures off anyone .... Mumf

Concentrate on the important stuff ...a 12 lb Barbel for starters ....! Brilliant post and agree with every word . I'll admit I was one of the materialistic sorts and I was very money orientated for a long time and in some ways I still am but it's different now . For many years I was competitive and felt like I had to earn plenty of money but I think that's because I didn't have a lot of money as a kid and felt like I had something to prove . I've had money and lost money and made money again and I know what it's like to have fuck all and I know what it's like to be reasonably well off and I can honestly say I was at my happiest when I was doing "ok". When I was poor I had money worries , when I was raking it in I was worried that I was going to lose it all . When I had enough to be comfortable I felt content . These days I'm older and wiser and am very comfortable financially but money doesn't motivate me as much as it used to do . My family and kids are set up and happy and are comfortable and facially secure and have turned out to be good people and are in good health and that's what makes me smile these days , the money is just a bonus . I'd rather be skint and with the people I love rather than a lonley millionaire . Life experiences , good and bad are what make life special and the dark times are what grow character and personality and I don't regret anything in my life , even the stupid things I've done because they made me the UKIP voting person that I have become today . Modern Britain is motivated by money , and that's why we have lost compassion for each other , it's an angry dog eat dog society now with everyone out for themselves and unfortunately you have to be in it to win in.

It's doesn't take a rocket scientist to ascertain who's genuinely honest about things and how he leads his life .
I don't give two fucks about money as long as I can pay the bills . Life is what you make it .
Self deprecation is a very rare trait in modern society . Many need to take heed .
