Anyone know for 100% why he wasn't in the squad? Obviously he was ill during the weak but I'm not sure he would let that prevent him form playing..unless he was dropped altogether?

If he doesn't play on Tuesday then I'd suspect he's on his way out.

Never seen a player missed so much as we missed Walters today.
That sloppy horror show should guarantee him everything he wants in his contract.

Sparky said Walters has had a virus since "a week last Wednesday" and after two days training this week had said that he still wasn't right

Bloody hell, March, you have spent all day moaning about the defense, now you think SJW would have made a difference to the defense?I am sure the last time I looked he was a forward?

Norwich's left back produced more chances than any other Prem player this season (after match stats). Don't think that would have happened with SJW kicking pieces out of him. Every time we launched the ball forwards, it came straight back because no one was winning it and holding it up. That is a job at which SJW excels. Norwich's defence and midfield must have had the most comfortable game of their careers. Our players might have skill but it needs physical strength to earn the right to show your skill. SJW provides that strength and aggression.

From today, Shaq doesn't look like a winger. He just didn't track his full back. He looked better when running at the defence through the middle.

Shaq is a world class wide player, the trouble today was that Johnson also thought he was a world class wide player. That is an obvious weakness to be exploited by better sides than Norwich. Johnson just needs to play as a full back rather than trying to impress his esteemed right sided team mate with fancy flicks and step overs, he's better than that.

World class wide players stop the opposing full back from playing. Shaq showed no instinct to do this and so I feel wide right is not his position. (This is no criticism of him). I can see him playing as an old fashioned inside right with Bojan as inside left. You are right about Johnson, he was poor today but he can't stop both their wide man and full back.

I think the full back Brady won MOM today(??), but that was because of his handling of Shaq in defence. He didn't venture too far forward other than free kicks. There was no reason for Shaq to track back, Brady was too scared to leave him and rarely overlapped. The trouble was Johnson decided to neglect his defensive duties and decided he would do his own thing. I like Johnson by the way and think he's an improvement in the right back position, but today he was poor.

I wonder if Johnson's just trying TOO hard to impress, given that he left Liverpool under something of a cloud? I personally think he's a class act, and if he sticks to his brief, he'll be a great acquisition

Johnson is an attacking wing back, we need a back 4 not a WB that could teach paul daniels a dissapearing act, his dissapearence stretches the defence. I keep saying it but with him in the team we are going to concede a shit load.
Johnson is suited to a 5-3-2 where the wing backs push forward, he's never in this world a full back. Thing is our best players arnt suited to 5-3-2. I'll say it again, watch what happens if cameron gets injured or suspended and wollscheid comes in to play alongside johnson. Wollscheid will need to cover ground and we all know he cant fucking run it will be footballing suicide, it's bad enough now and cameron can move.

Certainly showed today.

The funny thing though March was that yesterday's performance, with The opponents creating many chances and us hanging on was quite reminiscent of a lot of away games under TP, when Jon Walters was very much a permanent fixture in the team. How do you explain that then?

I'm still not quite sure what the plan is for this season but if it is to pair Shaq and Johnson on the right most of the time I suspect we will have a lot of defensive problems

Going forward, they look incredibly dangerous. Once we have Shawcross back, and not a mistake prone Cameron or Wilson, the reward wil absolutely be worth every ounce of risk. I think its worth it even with the mistake prone right cbs that we're currently starting.
