Would have thought Sidwell would be more use than Crouchy Exactly, who's going to give away free kicks on the edge of our box? ???

Today will 100% be 4231 affelay in the hole how you can doubt it I don't know. What are you basing that on though given we didn't set up like that in either of the other games? We didn't have Shaq

I think Hughes wants a front four who will swap positions all game - Citeh do this very well when they are in form. A horrible prospect for a defender to know that Arnie, Shaqiri, Affelay and Diouf will be looking for the ball in your area of the pitch over the course of 90 minutes

I would go for Cameron in the Whelan role if Glen picked up an injury, Sidwell as the next option for me. We seem to have a lot of attacking midfielders, but not too many defensive midfielders!

Not ideal is it? If Whelan is out for a number of games we need somebody who can come in and perform that role. Lucas? No it's not ideal Paul, but it's a problem we had last season also. Hopefully it doesn't bite us on the arse like it didn't last year either. If we signed someone like Lucas then I should imagine it would be Glen sitting out anyway regardless of any injuries. The difference last season was that we had Sidwell on the bench to cover for him but now (due to the number of signings we've made) spaces on the bench are at a premium. Having a second player to play that role is absolutely imperative for me and if we need to move other players on to free up space, then so be it.

Diouf/Crouch/Joselu/Odemwingie/Walters/Arnie/Afellay/Shaqiri/Bojan/Ireland/Adam. Fair few attacking options

He's picked the exact same team as last week bar Shaqiri in for Walters. We played 4-1-4-1 for an hour with that team. So how does it suddenly scream something different?

It could EASILY be either chap, I don't know why you're getting so worked up. Personally I think he'll go 4-1-4-1 again but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he did go 4-2-3-1.

As well as Ireland played last week, it was as much having a player who played just behind the centre forward and provided the link between midfield and forwards and across the forward line that turned the game. I hope someone is playing in the hole today.

For me it makes more sense to have players on the bench who can cover multiple positions.
Sure it's not ideal if someone like Whelan gets injured but I think it's a waste of a bench spot having Sidwell there when, with the players we do have, Hughes has multiple tactical options.
Now if Whelan did get injured I'd bet Sidwell would start next game.

Mark Hughes obviously has more faith in Geoff Cameron than yourself to cover that role today if needed. Looking at the bench again though I can see where you're coming from because there was room for Sidwell on there (unless he's injured or unavailable for a reason I haven't heard)?
