From Brentford.
I don't get this at all. Why not strengthen when you are actually IN the PL?
Madness.

Why spend 9m on some Championship player?

Why spend 9m on some Championship player? Indeed. Why not spend the 9 million when in the PL on someone who might keep you there?

And you tried to say Tony Pulis brought promotion when he spent £1m on Leon Cort...

Madness. Seems to be a guaranteed goal scorer in the Championship - but £9m is a tad to much

They have the parachute payment this year and want to make sure of an immediate return to the Prem. Big gamble though on this lad (not that I have seen anything of him!).

You've got to feel sorry for Cotterell in all this.

Absolutely this...£9m is peanuts if it gets you to The Premiership next season - I'm surprised we're not seeing even more Championship sides risk it all....it could be very messy come the end of this season for those that didn't quite make it..

You've got to feel sorry for Cotterell in all this. I wouldn't feel sorry for him if the wind caught his ears and blew him off a cliff. The jug eared cunt.

£9m for Gray, £14m for Rhodes (even that was rejected). The Championship is stepping it up this year.

£9m for Gray, £14m for Rhodes (even that was rejected). The Championship is stepping it up this year. £12 million for Xherdan Shaqiri. £500k for Bojan Shows what a mess our game has become when the likes of Jordan Rhodes are going for £14 million, insanity.

They could get up to £10m for Ings from Liverpool so in a way they're just re-investing that.

They really do need an Ings replacement. Against the Vale, with virtually a full first team, they really were awful up front. Although to be fair, they were awful all over the park. I did post then that Mr Dyche was in for a long, hard season with his current team. Perhaps he's realised it too and came to the conclusion that he had to spend the Ings money on a proven goalscorer at that level.

The parachute payments for last seasons relegated clubs is £64m each spread over three years. £24m this season, £20m next year and £10m the following. That's what is inflating transfer fees in the championship. Madness.

I was under the impression that parachute payments were there to help relegated clubs maintain the payment of players contacted to them on premiership wages, not to go splashing stupid amounts of money on new players to give them an unfair advantage over other championship clubs. Maybe this ought to be addressed in the same way as FFP... Yes I am being naïve aren't I?
